In the previous season, the winner of the Examples was Real Madrid, beating its main competitor, the Catalan Barcelona, by 3 points.

As in previous editions, 20 teams will take part in La Liga. To the 17 participants of the 2016/17 season, 3 representatives of the Segunda were added. They were the 3 best teams of the second most important football championship in Spain: Getafe, Levante and Girona.

The main match of Examples, which is called “El Classico”, will take place on December 20. Real Madrid and Barcelona, as in every season, are the main contenders for the championship gold medals. Atlético Madrid, which became the La Liga champion in the 2013-2014 season, will try to impose a fight on the giants of Spanish football.

Another main confrontation of the Spanish championship will be the battle “Ronaldo VS Messi”. These two best players compete with each other in terms of goals and assists every season. Last season, this fight was won by Leo Messi, who also became the best goalscorer of the European championships.

The 2017/2018 Spanish Football Championship starts in August - another draw for one of the strongest national tournaments in Europe! When will the new edition of the Spanish Championship start? What does the competition calendar look like? Who is included in the list of participants in the competition? Which clubs will join La Liga, and which, on the contrary, will leave the elite division? Before the start of the new issue, examples are just around the corner. Therefore, the time has come to answer the most important questions regarding the upcoming championship.

Spanish Football Championship Calendar 2017 – 2018

The 87th edition of La Liga will begin in the last month of summer - August 19, 2017, and end on May 13 next year. The Spanish championship involves an almost two-week winter break, which will divide the football tournament into two halves. The first part of the championship starts on August 19 and ends on December 20–25. The second half of the championship will begin on January 4–9, and will last until May 13, 2018.

Thus, the upcoming season will be slightly shorter than the previous one. The last edition of Primera also started on August 19, but its finish is scheduled only for May 21.

La Liga teams 2017 – 2018

20 teams representing all corners of Spain will compete for medals in the competition. Each club will play 39 games. The list of participants guaranteed participation in the 2017/2018 season looks like this:

  • "Barcelona";
  • "Real Madrid";
  • "Atlético (Madrid)";
  • "Seville";
  • Villarreal;
  • Athletic Bilbao;
  • Real Sociedad;
  • "Eibar"
  • Espanyol;
  • "Celta";
  • "Alaves";
  • "Valencia";
  • "Las Palmas";
  • "Betis"
  • "Malaga".

But the five teams languishing at the very bottom of the current Examples league table have every chance of saying goodbye to the elite league for at least one year. The risk zone includes 5 clubs:

  1. "Deportivo";
  2. Leganes;
  3. Sporting Gijon;
  4. "Granada";
  5. "Osasuna".

The Pamplona club Osasuna is in the most deplorable state. The Basques have lost all opportunities to remain in the country's main football division. Things don't look any better for Granada. But the rest of the teams still have every chance of not flying into the Segunda.

Tournament newcomers

According to the regulations, the three worst teams at the end of the season are relegated to the Segunda, the second most important professional league in Spain. At the same time, the 3 best teams in the second division move to La Liga. Two tickets will go to the holders of gold and silver in the 2016–2017 Segunda Championship. Another place in Example will be competed by 4 clubs in a special mini-tournament of the second league.

"Levante"

Fans of the Spanish championship will definitely see this FC from Valencia in the Primera matches 2017 - 2018. Based on the results of the games in the second league, the club guaranteed itself access to the elite division, where it will return a year later.

"Girona"

Another almost 100% major league rookie. Moreover, this Catalan FC is doubly new, because it has never played in La Liga before. However, unlike Levante, Girona does not have such an impressive lead over their rivals. Therefore, the Catalans may well miss their finest hour.

But there is still a third option. It will be played between the 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th teams of the Segunda 2016 – 2017. 9 clubs are vying for the coveted pass to the elite:

  • "Tenerife";
  • Getafe;
  • "Cadiz"
  • "Oviedo"
  • "Huesca"
  • Valladolid;
  • "Lugo";
  • "Zaragoza";
  • Sevilla Atlético.

Four of them will compete for a “ticket” to the main football division of Spain in a mini-tournament using the playoff system. Last year, Osasuna players were the lucky ones. We will find out who will benefit from football fortunes this time in June-July 2017.

Afterword

Football games in La Liga 2017 – 2018 will start very soon. The best national championship in the world will be held for the 87th time! What will you remember about the upcoming draw? Another round of confrontation between Messi and Ronaldo? An attempt by Atlético Madrid to outdo Real and Barcelona? Or the unexpected rise of a middling team? Well, we are waiting for August 2017, when the first intrigues around the 87th season of the Spanish championship begin to be resolved!

The 2017-2018 Spanish Football Championship (Primera) is already in full swing. At the start of the tournament, several interesting events took place, including the high-profile transfer of Neymar from and the weak play of the championship favorites. All this makes La Liga one of the most exciting competitions in the Old World, and provides the basis for heated discussions, debates and predictions for fans of the No. 1 game in the world.

The 2017-2018 Spanish football championship calendar was compiled taking into account the upcoming one, which will take place in Russia from June 14 to July 15, 2018. The Spanish national team, as well as players from many teams participating in the World Cup, will have a month to prepare for the main football event of the four years. In this regard, the start of La Liga took place on August 18, 2017, and the final 38th round is scheduled for May 13. The tournament provides for a three-week winter break, which will last almost a month (from the second ten days of December to the beginning of January).

The 2017-2018 Spanish Championship will traditionally feature 20 clubs. The newcomers to the current draw are:

  • "Levante"
  • Getafe;
  • Girona (made it through the play-offs).

Three football teams that find themselves in 18-20 places at the end of the competition are relegated to the Segunda Division, the second highest division in Spain. The first four lines in the table immediately guarantee participation in the Champions League, and three of them, according to experts, have already been reserved. If we take their point of view as an axiom, then at least a dozen football teams are vying for the last ticket to the most prestigious tournament in the Old World. Those who do not succeed in this fight will have a consolation prize in the form of the Europa League, participation in which is guaranteed by 5th and 6th positions.

The schedule of matches of the 2017-2018 Spanish Football Championship is designed in such a way that all key games are played on weekends, at a time convenient for TV viewers. Most matches start at different times, and the interval between matches is about 2-3 hours. As a result, La Liga fans have the opportunity to personally enjoy all the championship matches live.

Fight for the championship

Over the past decade, only two clubs have become Spanish football champions, excluding the 2013/14 season, when Atlético Madrid became victorious. In the current draw, experts unanimously agree that only two football teams are capable of winning the prestigious trophy:

  • "Barcelona";

All pre-start scenarios spoke in favor of Real. Los Blancos won two cups in the summer, extended contracts with promising players, and persuaded Ronaldo to stay, but this did not guarantee success. In the first 4 rounds, Zinedine Zidane's team scored only 8 points, and the gap from their main competitor Barcelona was already 7 points. Of course, this handicap is not critical, especially since important points will be played out in a head-to-head confrontation - the classico. In the meantime, fans can only hope for the return of Cristiano Ronaldo and the misfire of his eternal competitor.

As for Barcelona, the club has gained cruising speed. Many fans expected a less bright start in the championship, especially since Neymar recently left the team, and in his place they acquired inexperienced striker Dembele. The newcomer, by the way, has already been injured and will stay in the hospital for at least 3 months, so he will have to forget about the 105 million dollar acquisition until the New Year. Lionel Messi began to save the situation: it was he who scored 9 goals in the past 5 rounds, securing major victories for the blue garnets over Eibar and Espanyol. If Barcelona maintains the given pace, then the title of the best team in the country will inevitably move from Madrid to Catalonia.

Champions League contenders

Let's assume that the first two places have already been reserved by Real and Barça. This is not the end of the battle in the standings, because there are still prizes that give the right to compete in the Champions League and receive substantial bonuses. When thinking about which club can take 3rd and 4th place, the following teams come to mind:

  • "Seville";
  • "Valencia".

Atlético Madrid had an unsuccessful start to the 2017-2018 Spanish Championship, but a series of away games was to blame. Also, the team does not have a scoring striker capable of leading the team at a critical moment. In many situations, the “mattress players” are helped out by the talent of Antoine Griezmann and the performance of all the players (fortunately, Diego Simeone instilled a fighting spirit in his players). Atlético's more skilled clubs are not doing well in attack, which leads to the loss of points. However, in the first 5 rounds the club has not suffered a single defeat and is steadily gaining points.

After Jorge Sampaoli left for the Argentine national team, the management of Seville decided to appoint Eduardo Berisso as head coach, and apparently they were right. At the moment, the club is in second place in the championship, demonstrating a meaningful game and excellent defensive actions (only 1 goal conceded after 5 rounds). The club's success may be affected by the busy Champions League schedule, as Sevilla's group is not the easiest. In any case, fans have nothing to worry about yet: the team is consistently gaining points in the domestic championship.

Valencia is also vying for a place in the top four. The main problem of the “bats” in previous seasons remained instability - big victories alternated with disappointing defeats. The first games of the championship showed that the team has character and a goal to take a place in the European Cup zone. So far, Valencia has no problems gaining points in matches against outsiders, and also competes in games with local giants. On their home field, Marcelino's team withstood Atlético Madrid, and on the road they sensationally drew the match with Real Madrid. According to some club players, this is just the beginning.

The standings for the 2017-2018 Spanish Championship are extremely confusing. The first rounds do not yet give a clear idea of who will fight for the title and who is destined to eat points for the right to remain in the elite. All the more exciting will be the La Liga matches, which in Russia are regularly broadcast by the channels “Match TV”, “Setanta Sport”, “Football 1”, “Football 2”, etc. Don’t miss the games of one of the most spectacular tournaments in Europe.

The Spanish Football Championship 2018/2019 is the 88th edition of the main Spanish football championship. In the new edition, 20 teams will compete for medals. When will the participating clubs begin their path to the trophy? What does the game schedule look like? Which new teams will be joining the tournament? And which of the participants aims to win the title. There is nothing left until the first round. Therefore, on the eve of the new season of Examples, it’s time to answer the main questions!

Schedule of matches of the Spanish Football Championship 2018 – 2019

The 88th edition of La Liga starts in August 2018. The championship will be divided into two segments. The first half will take place from August to the end of December 2018, and the second from January to May 2019. There will be a short winter break between the two parts of Examples.

Participating teams

In the 2018/19 Primera games calendar, viewers will see 20 PFCs. So far the following teams have secured their participation in the new season:

  • "Barcelona";
  • Atlético Madrid;
  • "Valencia";
  • "Real Madrid";
  • Villarreal;
  • "Seville";
  • "Celta";
  • "Eibar"
  • Getafe;
  • "Girona";
  • Leganes;
  • Athletic Bilbao;
  • Betis.

Things are not going well for Malaga, Las Palmas and Deportivo. They are located in the basement of the standings. Espanyol, Real Sociedad, Levante and Alaves may also lose their registration at the end of the 2017/18 season.

The three worst clubs will leave the Spanish top division. Their place will be taken by 3 Segunda teams.

Two tickets to the Primera División will be given to 1–2 teams of the 2017/18 Segunda Championship. Most likely, they will go to PFC Huesca and Cadiz.

Another “ticket” to La Liga will be played by the teams that took 3rd to 6th places at the top of the standings. The winner of the ticket will be determined by a mini-tournament. “Oviedo”, “Rayo Vallecano”, “Lugo”, “Osasuna”, “Numancia” can take part in it.

La Liga Scorers 2018 – 2019

The Spanish championship is played by such masters as Lionel Messi, Gareth Bale, Cristiano Ronaldo and Luis Suarez. Therefore, there will definitely be no shortage of goal-scoring exploits in the new edition of the Primera División football game!

The best scorers in Spain competing for the Pichichi Trophy include the following players:

  • Lionel Messi;
  • Luis Suarez;
  • Iago Aspas;
  • Simone Zaza;
  • Aritz Aduriz;
  • Gareth Bale;
  • Cristiano Ronaldo;
  • Paulinho;
  • Antoine Griezmann.

Standings of the Spanish Football Championship 2018/19

The awards of the 88th edition will be competed by 20 teams. But the circle of real contenders for the top lines of the tournament table will be limited to 2–3 teams.

"Real"

One of the two supergrands of La Liga. Los Blancos have won the trophy 33 times. No other club can boast of so many titles!

In the 2017/19 season, Madrid are not performing very convincingly. Zinedine Zidane's team actually lost their chances for gold already in the first round of the championship. Perhaps the football gods will be more favorable to Madrid in the upcoming draw?!

Barcelona

A formidable competitor to Madrid. Fewer titles. But this does not in any way detract from the strength of Barça.

In recent years, the Blaugranas have not demonstrated the brilliant, signature play for which they were so famous during the era of Pep Guardiola's coaching. But the blue garnets have enough strength and experience to achieve brilliant results in Primera 2018 – 2019!

"Atlético"

Eternal bronze medalist. The capital's club does not have enough strength to compete on an ongoing basis with formidable fellow countrymen from Madrid and eminent competitors from Catalonia. Therefore, for several years in a row, “mattress makers” have not risen above 3rd place.

However, in the 2013/14 edition Los Rojiblancos managed to win the Primera División gold medals. So why don't they repeat their success?!

Other clubs

The more competitors for the title, the more interesting it will be to watch the Spanish football championship 2018/19!

Sevilla, Villarreal and Valencia are the three PFCs that are close to the top three. But their resources are too meager to compete for gold with the Catalans, Real Madrid and Atlético Madrid. The chance to win the title will only appear if the leaders fail.

The most titled FC among this trio is Valencia. The “bats” have won 6 medals of the highest value! Relatively recently - in the early 2000s - the prefix “super” was even applied to the club. World-famous footballers played for the Orange. Los Murciélagos fought unsuccessfully for the championship in the Spanish national championship and regularly played in the playoffs of the Champions League.

The Spanish La Liga 2017-2018 will follow the same format from August to May. Over the entire season, each club will play 38 matches (19 at home, 19 away). For a win, 3 points are awarded, for a draw - 1, for a loss - 0. The team that scores the most points will become the champion.

The top 4 teams in La Liga receive tickets to the UEFA Champions League (the first 3 teams go directly to the group stage, and the 4th team goes to the playoff round). The teams that take 5th and 6th places at the end of the championship are sent to the UEFA Europa League.

Teams from this championship have won the Champions League (17 times), the Europa League (10 times), the UEFA Super Cup (14 times) and the Club World Cup (5 times) more often than others. In addition, Examples football players collected the largest number of “golden balls”.

The main contenders for La Liga gold medals in the 2017/18 season are Real Madrid and Barcelona, as well as Atlético Madrid, Sevilla or maybe some other club that will try to compete with the two Spanish giants.
