Mud lake in Evpatoria. The source of health is Lake Moinak in Evpatoria. You should know it

So Moinaki is the reason. Or Saki? No, it’s still Moinaki. Despite the cacophony of both names, from the point of view of balneology, the most valuable things are the essence. Moinaki is a lake-estuary within the city of Evpatoria. with highly mineralized water - brine. At the bottom of the lake lies medicinal mud (silt) used for medicinal purposes. Mud is one of the resort’s potent healing agents. The mud of the lake brought Evpatoria the glory of a balneological resort.

Lake Moinaki is located on the western outskirts of Yevpatoria. The lake stretches from south to north, perpendicular to the sea coastline. The length of the lake is 1.85 km, the greatest width is 0.89 km, the depth is from 45 centimeters to one meter. More than 5 thousand years ago, it was a sea bay, which, as a result of long-term geological processes, was separated from the sea by a sand spit - a bar - about 300 meters wide. The water level in the estuary type lake is 25-30 centimeters lower than the sea level.

3. Behind the spit with houses is the usual Black Sea

The bottom is marshy, almost completely covered with a layer of liquid mud 15 to 30 cm thick. The shores of the lake are low. The eastern shore is sandy, gently slopes down to the water and, as a result, is convenient for swimming. In summer, the sun warms the lake to temperatures above 30°, which promotes strong evaporation. But the lake does not dry out because it is replenished by the sea (sea water seeps through the embankment), by precipitation and surface runoff (there are outlets of brackish water and springs along the western and eastern shores). And there are also leeches! Not the big and black ones that are sold in our pharmacies and are found in the reservoirs of the middle zone, but the local small ones. But there are many of them! Therefore, bathing causes such an additional invigorating tonic effect. Some of our company (we’ll call it that for now) got hooked on this business. And all the time he wanted to return to Moinaki in order to prolong the pleasure of the leech.

4. small...

This someone is clearly visible on the color photographs posted above. So we won't point fingers.

The constant evaporation of the shallow estuary created the conditions for the appearance of brine - concentrated, salt-saturated water, the components of which are sodium, potassium and magnesium chlorides, various organic substances (waste products of the branchial crustacean Artemia salina, the only inhabitant of the lake), compounds of calcium sulfate and carbon dioxide, calcium bicarbonate , potassium iodide, as well as microelements: gold, uranium, strontium, arsenic, manganese, etc. The most common salt in brine (on average with potassium chloride is 78-80%).

Rapa is yellowish in color with a pungent odor, giving off hydrogen sulfide, and has a high density. Each liter contains 150-180 grams of salts, that is, 10 times more than sea water.

In general, what was done was done for Kostya with his atopic dermatitis. However, after consultation with a sanatorium doctor, during a bright and eventful resort holiday, some adjustments were made to the course of Konstantin’s balneological treatment in the form of a complete abandonment of balneology as such. Because, firstly, after trying to use highly healing mud by smearing the patient began to scream loudly (see photo No. 2 of this post), secondly, after using highly healing mud, the patient began to develop bright red spots, which prompted the unlucky mother-healer to turn to at least some specialist knowledgeable in the matter. The verdict was this: simple and repeated bathing in the sea, local climate and time are quite sufficient conditions for solving our problem of atopic dermatitis. And so far this is true. At least the patient stopped screaming loudly and became quiet. The red plaques have disappeared. The success of the treatment is thus evident!

Alexander Sergeevich also did not neglect the healing properties of the reservoir. But it’s better to ask him about the consequences of these health procedures.

At the same time, the patient continues to study Italian by reading the book, which is also undoubtedly beneficial.

But there are always people ready to turn the seriousness of their intentions into a farce and a farce:

11. after sunset

Over hundreds of years, healing silt mud has formed at the bottom of Lake Moinak - a layer with a thickness of 13 to 80 centimeters. Mud formation is a complex chemical and biological process, it involves special microorganisms, salts, clay, sand, etc. Therapeutic mud is a bluish-black, oily, viscous mass with the smell of hydrogen sulfide.

The healing properties of mud are determined by the special complex consistency of the substance from which the mud is composed. Their composition includes water, insoluble substances (silica, alumina, iron oxide, potassium oxide, manganese oxide, etc.), soluble (sodium chloride, magnesium, various salts, etc.), organic (fats, fatty acids, remains of decomposed animals and plant organisms). This entire mass is saturated with hydrogen sulfide. Mud also has radioactivity, which is seen as one of the main reasons for its effectiveness. In addition, they contain biogenic stimulants - substances that increase the body's resistance to various diseases, and lipids that have anti-inflammatory and bactericidal effects.

During the Great Patriotic War, the occupiers removed a huge amount of medicinal mud from the Saki and Moinak lakes. To this day, the removed dirt is stored in the Alps, in specially carved baths; Its microflora is maintained and extracts are made.

Dirt and brine applied to the body absorb foreign particles from its surface, thereby cleansing the skin and improving its functioning. The procedure has a complex effect on the body. The nerve endings of the skin transmit irritation to the cerebral cortex, which regulates the vital processes of the body. Blood flow and filling of blood vessels accelerate, pulse and breathing increase, complex processes occur in the nervous, endocrine and other systems of the body. The forces capable of defeating the disease are activated. Each person perceives mud procedures individually. Mud therapy has contraindications. Among vacationers who engage in independent mud therapy, heart attacks are common. Mud procedures, brine and other baths are highly active methods of treatment, so they cannot be taken without medical prescription.

In recent years, the rapid urbanization of medicinal areas, the expansion of the construction of health resorts and residential areas on the coast and in the area of medicinal lakes, the rise in groundwater levels caused by runoff from irrigated lands - all this has disrupted the natural regime inherent in the nature of closed reservoirs. The estuaries began to quickly become desalinated and polluted. The groundwater level has increased, disrupting the natural processes and ecosystem of the lake, the mineralization of brine is decreasing, which threatens the loss of the healing properties of the lake, and Evpatoria will lose its status as a balneological resort - for 70% of vacationers being treated, the healing properties of Lake Moinaki are used.

So it goes. Hold on...

Several thousand years ago, Lake Moinak in Evpatoria was a sea bay. Year after year, the waves washed over the spit, and the bay became isolated from the sea. This formed a lake in which various minerals accumulated over centuries.

The ancient Greeks and Romans knew about this amazing place. But the study of its medicinal properties began only in the 19th century. At this time, the first mud bath was opened in Yevpatoria, but it was intended for wealthy people. The history of the resort began with its opening.

Moinak Lake or Moinaki is located directly in the city of Evpatoria, which is very convenient. There are many legends about the healing properties of brine - the very salty lake water and mud. But besides legends, there are hundreds of examples of real healings of a wide variety of diseases, often hopeless patients who were abandoned by doctors. Every year thousands of people come to Moinaki in Evpatoria. Many people come here constantly.

What diseases are treated in Moinak Lake

The list of diseases that are treated with brine and lake mud is quite impressive:

  • Joint diseases;
  • Skin diseases;
  • Respiratory diseases;
  • Diseases of the musculoskeletal system, including cerebral palsy;
  • Gynecological diseases, including female infertility.

In addition, swimming in Moinak strengthens the immune system, has a cosmetic effect on the skin (peeling), has a positive effect on metabolism, improves kidney function and neuropsychic activity.

When self-medicating, certain precautions should be taken. Treatment with mud can cause increased blood pressure, increased heart rate, fatigue, and nervous reactions. Bathing in brine should not exceed 10-15 minutes.

Unfortunately, there are no mud baths on the lake today, and mud treatment has quite a strong effect on the body. Self-treatment in Moinak should be treated with great caution.

Why does the mud of Lake Moinaki have healing properties?

The ancient Egyptians invented smearing sore spots with mud. It is no coincidence that Moinaki in Evpatoria is called the Crimean Dead Sea. For centuries, mud has formed at the bottom of the reservoir, a layer of which reaches 80 centimeters. The complex process of mud formation involves microorganisms, clay, salt, and sand.

Mud is a substance of complex consistency, which includes:

  • Water;
  • Silica and alumina;
  • Iron and potassium oxides;
  • Manganese oxide;
  • Various soluble salts (sodium chloride, magnesium);
  • Organic fats and fatty acids (residues of animals and plants).

The mud is saturated with hydrogen sulfide and has weak radioactivity. Increased immunity is promoted by biogenic stimulants and lipids, which have bactericidal and anti-inflammatory effects.

How to get proper treatment in Lake Moinak

When self-treating, it is strongly recommended to first consult with a doctor and be treated under their supervision. There are several ways to solve the problem. Make your place of residence the health-improving complex "Planet" or the boarding house "Rodina", which are located in close proximity to Moinak. Doctors from these organizations can provide the necessary assistance in proper treatment.

If, for economic reasons, you choose to live in the private sector, it makes sense, at least for the first time, to carry out treatment on a medical beach. Here sunbathing is organized according to certain doses. The autoinformer reports water and air temperatures. Doctors recommend swimming in the lake in the afternoon. After bathing, a state of agitation may occur, which is due to salt crystals on the skin after bathing.

The optimal course of treatment consists of the following procedures:

  • Morning air baths on the shore of a pond. The best time for them is from 8 to 11 am;
  • Mud procedures with exposure to the sun for 15-20 minutes;
  • Swimming in the lake to wash off dirt for 10 minutes;
  • Rinse with fresh water;
  • Rest in a cool room to relieve the state of excitement.

When visiting Moinak for the first time, you need to carefully “listen” to your body: measure your blood pressure, monitor adequate fluid intake, and exclude fatty and heavy foods from your diet.

Numerous reviews about the miraculous properties of the water and mud of the lake give hope for a cure to many people.

Good day to all travel lovers!

The popular Crimean resort of Evpatoria is known not only for its long sandy beaches and developed infrastructure for children's recreation. is also a medical resort, where anyone can improve their health with the help of therapeutic mud in various sanatoriums and dispensaries. But you don’t have to buy a ticket to the sanatorium, but go for mud on your own to Lake Moinak. Or as it is also called - Lake Moinaki. And you can do this absolutely free!

Moinak Lake in Yevpatoria is located within the city, on its western outskirts. So you can get here on foot if you wish. But of course it will be more convenient to get there by car. If you look at the map of Yevpatoria, you will immediately understand how to get to Lake Moinaki. By car, it is best to go west, first along Internatsionalnaya Street, and then turn following the sign for the village of Zaozernoye. Then on your left side there will be Moinak Lake.

So we, on one of the sunny Crimean days, decided not just to sunbathe on the beach in Evpatoria, but to do it with health benefits, on the shores of Lake Moinak! I then remembered our trip to the mud baths. Everything there was at a very good level and very affordable. But in this regard, Lake Moinaki is even more accessible. No need to pay at all!

I don’t know how it was before, but now it’s so easy to get to the lake shore. There are barriers where there once was a road, and the road itself has been specially rendered unusable:

But I think this is even for the better. Now the lake suffers greatly from human activity. And it wasn’t a problem for us to walk 100 meters from the road to the lake. Perhaps somewhere it is still possible to drive up to the very edge of the water, but I didn’t look.

Moinak Lake in Crimea has its own history! When it was a sea bay, but about 5000 years ago it was separated from the sea by a natural sand ridge. This is how the lake turned out. It is known that more than 2 thousand years ago there was an ancient Greek settlement here, and in the 14th century the shores of the lake were chosen by the nomadic Moinaks, who were then part of the Golden Horde. From them the lake received its modern name.

Moinaki is a small lake, its area is slightly less than 2 square kilometers. And very, very small. Its average depth is only 45 centimeters! And the maximum depth is no more than a meter. Therefore, the water in the lake is always warmer than in the sea. The shores of the lake are very flat, but overgrown in places, so there are mosquitoes here that you won’t find on the sea coast.

Over hundreds of years, healing silt mud has formed in the lake, which in composition resembles clay with a bluish tint. She treats many diseases of the skin, musculoskeletal system, women's diseases and much more!

Mud covers almost the entire bottom of the lake, ranging from 15 to 80 centimeters thick! You can simply get this clayey mud out with your hands:

You can easily take the mud with you, for example in a plastic bottle, so that later you can take mud baths at home. By the way, the mud of Lake Moinak is quite famous all over the world. They even sell it in bottles. So it can be a good gift for your friends and relatives!

We also took some healing mud with us, but it’s still better to take mud baths right here on the lake:

The local microclimate has its own unique healing effect. After all, not only dirt, but also iodine-saturated air and lake water (brine) saturated with salts and other trace elements have a beneficial effect on the body. The water in the lake is very salty and dense. Because of its density, it is simply impossible to drown here, and the depth will not allow it. Moinak Lake is also called the Crimean Dead Sea.

Just remember that mud baths should be taken very carefully. And you shouldn’t swim in the lake for a long time either. Dirt raises blood pressure and excites the nervous system. Doctors recommend swimming in the lake for no more than 20 minutes, and for children generally no more than 10.

By the way, the Crimean “Dead Sea” is not so dead! Small crustaceans live here and love to bite those who swim in the lake. Just don’t be afraid of them - they are absolutely harmless! The crustaceans eat your dead skin. If anyone has been to Thailand, they remember how popular fish peeling is with tourists there. The same thing happens here, but only for free! As soon as you stop moving in the water, you will immediately feel light bites. Personally, I hardly noticed them, but those with delicate skin (especially children) may experience discomfort. After the first swim, Elvira refused to go into the water at all! I had to drag her healing mud from the bottom of the lake to me

Many people spend the whole day at the lake and swim for hours, but we still took the advice of doctors (read it on the Internet) and did not abuse mud procedures. Therefore, after spending a couple of hours on the lake, we returned to our rented house in Evpatoria. For this day we also had a trip planned to the village and to the westernmost part of the Crimean Peninsula. I will definitely write about this in my next articles. Don't forget to subscribe to blog updates so you don't miss out!

The northernmost tip of the lake is the technological part of the “Moinaki” mud baths; the regeneration pools for the therapeutic mud of the mud baths are located here; post-treatment waters from the mud baths are discharged into this part.

In 2005, the Yevpatoriya Capital Construction Department was developing another project to protect Moinak Lake. It was planned to build an eight-kilometer dam and a drainage and protective collector. The price of such a project is about 9 million hryvnia.

In January 2012, the Yevpatoriya City Council presented a project for the development of the coastal zone of the lake with cottages and multi-storey residential buildings. According to the initiative group to save the lake, “then the lake will come to an end.”

    On the territory of the city of Evpatoria there is a miraculous lake called Moinaki. Ancient legends and tales also described the healing properties of Lake Moinak, which contain the salt water of the reservoir and mud. Also, ancient legends are confirmed by real stories from modern times, when brine, that is, the salt water of a given lake and mud, contributed to healing from a variety of ailments. Even those people who seemed hopeless and were abandoned by doctors recovered.

    Moinak Lake in Evpatoria in Crimea photo

    Every year, thousands of tourists visit the Evpatoria Lake Moinaki in Crimea to enjoy the unrivaled nature and swim in the salt lake. There are people who visit this place regularly, as they have seen from their own experience that Moinaki water heals.

    Where is Lake Moinaki located in the city of Evpatoria on the city map?

    This reservoir is located in the western part of the city. It has a fairly elongated shape, the length of the lake is about two kilometers, the width in the largest areas is 890 meters. At the same time, the depth of Moinaki is insignificant, no more than one meter.

    The lake water has a very dense and salty consistency, so It's impossible to drown here. Even those people who do not know how to swim feel comfortable in this reservoir.

    An unsurpassed sensation comes at the moment when your feet step on the bottom of the lake, plunging a little into the silt. Since the water is very salty, at first there will be a slight tingling sensation on the skin, but the more you immerse yourself in the healing brine or mud, the more pleasant it will be for the body.

    It is impossible to drown in the waters of the lake!

    Delicate sand covers the eastern shore of the healing reservoir. A smooth descent to the water allows people of any age to dive into Moinaki without much difficulty. You can also go to the springs from any shore of the lake.

    Estuary called Moinaki

    According to many researchers, “Moynak” means “Star” and comes from the name of the people who were in close proximity to this area.

    For many millennia, brine, which has medicinal properties, accumulated in the lake. Now the lake is separated from sea waters by an isthmus approximately three hundred meters wide; in ancient times, approximately five thousand years ago, the reservoir flowed into the sea. Since the lake was separated from the sea for a long time, its mud acquired healing properties.

    Therapeutic mud

    According to one of the legends, Hercules himself once stayed on the banks of Moinaki, as evidenced by the finds of archaeologists, which are now stored in. Even in ancient times, people knew about the healing properties of the reservoir.

    It is recommended to swim in the healing waters and take mud baths in the summer after lunch, after swimming in the sea. It is after lunch that the water in the lake warms up to its maximum, due to which the exposure to dirt and salt increases. Also, the contrast between swimming in cool sea water and fairly warm Moinaki has a positive effect on the human body. Such water procedures have a beneficial effect on strengthening the nervous system, immunity, and the functioning of the cardiovascular system.

    Need to know! It is very useful to swim in the waters of the lake for people prone to frequent colds, inflammation of the nose or throat, and various skin diseases, such as psoriasis, eczema, dermatitis.

    Doctors recommend swimming in this pond for no more than fifteen minutes after the water warms up to 26 degrees Celsius. This warning is due to the fact that water treatments in the lake can increase sweating and blood pressure, increase heart rate and breathing, and increase body temperature by several degrees. It is known that body temperature after swimming remains elevated for another day.

    Diseases that Moinaki mud treats:

    • musculoskeletal system;
    • consequences of injuries;
    • neuralgia, radiculitis;
    • diseases of bones, muscles, joints;
    • diseases of the hearing and respiratory organs;
    • skin diseases;
    • prostatitis, infertility, impotence.

    Each person’s body perceives the treatment process individually. Since there are certain contraindications to swimming in salty waters at first it is necessary to consult a doctor. You should also adhere to the following rules:

    • Keep the dirt on your body for no more than twenty minutes.
    • Swim in the lake for no longer than fifteen minutes during the day.
    • Avoid hypothermia after swimming.
    • In case of exacerbation of diseases, refrain from treatment with mud.

    How to get to the lake

    Tram number 1 goes to Moinaki from the center of Yevpatoria, and you need to take it to Polupanova Street. Bus number 11, trams number 2 and 3 also go to the “Mud” stop.
