Nai Harn

It is considered one of the best beaches in Phuket due to the picturesque surroundings. The beach itself is small (relative to previous beaches) - about 0.7 km. The beach is separated by small mountains on both sides.

Mostly people go on vacation to Nai Harn couples with children or simply romantic couples.

It's best to come during the autumn-winter period, at this time there are no waves or they are small. In spring and summer, it is better to refrain from traveling to this beach if you are not into surfing. At this time, winds and dangerous underwater currents reign here.

This is a quiet and peaceful place with virtually no entertainment. The silence is maintained by the absence of motor boats. Royal regattas are sometimes held here, when you can see many sailing yachts.

A family holiday in Phuket is an almost ideal choice for those who want to travel to Thailand with a child (especially a small one). It’s hard to find a better place in the country; there are practically no shortcomings here. True, the choice of the beach where you will live plays a big role.

Let's look at this issue in detail, as well as all the pros and cons of holidays on the island of Phuket.

pros

1. Easy to get to.

This indicator is especially important for those with small children. There are direct flights from Russia to Phuket. Minibuses and taxis transport you from the airport to the beaches. The nearest ones (Nai Yang, Naithon) can be reached in 10 minutes. It will take more time if you are in the central ones (Patong, Karon, Kata) - 40 minutes. It takes about an hour to get to the southernmost one (Nai Harn). For comparison - to Pattaya from the airport it takes about 2 hours by bus, to Koh Chang - 5 hours (plus a ferry), to the beaches of Ao Nang and Railay in Krabi you will spend 3-3.5 hours by taxi from Phuket, to Lanta - 5 h, to Samui you will generally have to transfer to a local flight. The worst option is Koh Phangan. There, you first need to fly to Samui, and then go to the pier and take a ferry to the island.

2. Sea.

Anyone who goes to Phuket on vacation, of course, wants their child to swim in the clean sea. On the island this indicator is at a high level, except that in Patong it is worse (but much better than in Pattaya).

3. Well-developed infrastructure.

If you are traveling to Phuket with a child, you can be sure that there is everything your child needs here: baby food, medicine, toys, strollers, cribs, all sorts of things for swimming (inflatable rings, inflatable houses, etc.) . Most beaches have pharmacies and clinics. The transport network is well developed, there are many roads, so it won’t take you long to get to the doctor or store. But here you need to choose the right one, which we will talk about in the next paragraph.

4. Beaches.

To ensure that your holiday with a child in Phuket does not cause any trouble and that you enjoy it, you need to take your choice of beach seriously. We will briefly describe each in terms of family vacations.

Patong is the most popular and noisy beach. There are a lot of people, including on the coast. However, the beach is wide and your child will have enough space to splash around in the shallow water, build sand castles, etc. The infrastructure is most developed here - there is one of the largest shopping centers in island - Jangceylon with Big C and Robinson hypermarkets, as well as a children's play area Mario Zone. You can buy everything there - diapers, baby food, toys, and strollers! There are a lot of pharmacies. The main thing in Patong is to stay away from the city, where there is roaring music coming from the bars half the night. This place is a training ground for adult games, not children's. The downside of Patong is the dirtiest sea on the island.

Karon, Kata, Kata Noi - these three beaches follow one another, are located close to each other and are considered the most popular for family holidays. Unlike Patong, it is calm here, the infrastructure is well developed (pharmacies, shops), although there are no shopping centers or hypermarkets (you can go to Patong for them - just 10-20 minutes and you are there). The first two beaches are very long, so there is plenty of free space for children to play. There aren't very many people.

Rawai is not suitable for families with children. In fact, this is not a beach, since there is practically no sand. Full of fishing boats on the coast and in the bay.

Nai Harn is a pretty nice place, calm, but the infrastructure is not particularly developed, although there are pharmacies and shops in the village, which is a 10-15 minute walk from the coast. From here to Phuket Town there is a city bus for 50 baht. And there’s plenty of everything there: hypermarkets and clinics. The drive is about 40-50 minutes.

Minuses

1. High prices.

Rather, we can say that they are high in comparison with Pattaya and Bangkok, but quite low in comparison with Moscow and other large cities in Russia. The only thing that upsets us is the exorbitant prices for a taxi: to the neighboring beach it can cost 300 baht or more. Hotels are also somewhat more expensive than in other resorts and there are almost none on line 1, because... On most beaches there is an asphalt road near the beach.

2. Climate.

From May to November the sea is often choppy, the waves are very high, so there is no talk of any children's swimming. It is better to exclude a family vacation with a child in Phuket during this period, since it is quite possible that during the entire vacation you and your child will not be able to swim in the ocean. There are red flags everywhere prohibiting entry into the water. Naturally, there are no jet skis or other entertainment at sea. Read more about.

Hotels in Phuket for families with children

We are often asked if there are hotels in Phuket that are aimed at families with children. We answer: yes, there is! For example:

Most have shallow pools with water slides, playgrounds, children's rooms, special menus and small chairs in restaurants. A cot for a child is provided, and a nanny will look after the little ones while you are on excursions or in the shops. Almost everywhere there is a doctor and a nurse (meaning hotels, not Thai guesthouses).

Entertainment for children in Phuket

Covers an area of 22,000 square meters. m and consists of several zones: Africa, Asia, America, Antarctica, the Ancient World. More than 15 attractions and water slides.

6. Show Fantasy.

An entertaining show with modern special effects and stunts. The performance features more than 500 performers, 50 elephants and several dozen other animals.

7. Zoo.

In addition to the usual animal encounters, shows are held every day with monkeys, elephants and crocodiles.

8. Active entertainment.

Bananas, water skis and motorcycles. Suitable for teenagers. Available on almost all beaches.

9. Others.

You may also be interested in other entertainment - Butterfly Garden, Orchid Garden, waterfalls, karting, horse riding.

The island of Phuket cannot be described in one word - its resorts are too heterogeneous. Nightlife is vibrant in Patong, crowds of sightseers and shopping enthusiasts flock to Phuket City, families with children relax on Kamala and Nai Yang beaches, and windsurfers glide through the waves on Karon Beach. All vacationers look for and find something of their own here.

On the other hand, choosing a place for a family vacation so as not to move is also not easy. From a good beach in the south you will want to go to a water park in the north, from a quiet town in the west to noisy and unusual Phuket City in the east. Attractions and activities are scattered throughout Phuket's resorts, so get ready to travel around the island.

You will learn about the right time to travel, the main entertainment, and the best resorts from our article about holidays with children in Phuket.

Phuket on the map of Thailand

Phuket is the largest island of Thailand, located off the southwestern coast of the country and washed by the waters of the Andaman Sea of the Indian Ocean. Phuket City, or Phuket City, is the capital of the island, but by no means the center of resort life. The main resorts of Phuket are concentrated on the west coast.

It is not difficult to find on the map where Phuket is located: a huge island, as if by strings, connected by bridges to the mainland of Thailand. This is the southernmost resort region of the country: only the province of Krabi is located nearby, and the rest of the tourist cities are located hundreds of kilometers to the north.

Vacation with children

What would your ultimate dream look like? For example, like this: in winter, when the frosts are severe, come to Phuket with children - and there it is summer, there are white beaches, a clear sea and fresh fruits with unusual names. Yes, I would like to make such a dream come true, especially since a trip to Phuket should be planned for winter. Beach holidays are at the forefront of the island resort.

Endless sandy beaches with a gentle entry into the water, a warm sea, palm trees along the shore - a holiday in Phuket is reminiscent of that same “heavenly pleasure”. It is considered good practice to visit all the local beaches and find the best one.

Moreover, the concept of “relaxing with a child” on this island includes not only sunbathing and swimming in the almost hot sea. There is a huge amount of entertainment for children in Phuket - a wonderful water park, an elephant palace, and unusual museums. We are ready to guarantee that your child will take the largest number of selfies in the museum (if you visit the gallery of optical illusions).

Another plus of Phuket is its hotels. Many of them are aimed at families with children. If you are coming with an infant, a baby cot will be prepared in the room. If you come with an older child, he will be able to spend time in the mini-club, on the playground, in the children's room.

At the same time, a holiday in Phuket is considered very expensive - for example, in comparison with Pattaya. However, upon closer examination, it turns out that there are equal numbers of expensive and budget hotels and restaurants, and the quality of service is almost independent of price.

When is the best time to go?

When is the best time to go to Phuket? The answer will please those who do not like snowy, cold winters. In winter, Phuket is warm and sunny, and there is practically no rain.

If you want to escape from the snow and frost to the land of eternal summer, to beaches with white sand and warm sea, then the island is the best place for this.

From November to April, the water and air temperatures here are the same as in summer, but there is no rain or wind, the sea is clean and calm, and the stuffiness is almost not felt. It must be said that the high season in Phuket is not only suitable for lounging on the beach.

This is a great time for excursions, trips into the jungle, and trips to small islands. In addition, several bright holidays occur at this time.

In November, Phuket hosts the Loy Krathong Festival of Lights and a boating festival, in December there is a sailing regatta for the King's Cup, in April the Thais celebrate the New Year, and in April there is a turtle release festival. The events are colorful, festive, and usually special entertainment awaits children during the holidays.

Note that the opening of the season in Phuket is almost Housing prices double. To avoid overpaying, we recommend booking a hotel room or apartment in advance.

Weather and climate

To begin with, a fact that will warm the soul of all lovers of hot summers: the average annual temperature in Phuket is +28°C. This means that during the day the air warms up to +31-33°C, and at night it cools down to +23-25°C. Moreover, this temperature remains on the island both in July and January.

But here's what else you need to know about Phuket's climate: there are distinct dry and wet seasons. Heavy rains begin in May and last until October. From November to April there are also rains, but they are short and do not interfere with rest. It is for this reason that the best holiday in Phuket with children is in winter, when nothing disrupts tourists’ plans.

Although the air temperature in Phuket does not change throughout the year, it is felt differently due to changes in air humidity. The lowest humidity is in winter, so it is good to come to Phuket with a baby from December to March. In spring, humidity increases and the heat becomes more intense.

The holiday season on the island begins in November. Although it rains quite often this month, you can safely plan a vacation in Phuket for this time: after a half-hour downpour, the sun comes out, and not a trace of the bad weather remains.

Already in December, the amount of precipitation is noticeably reduced, and from January to April the weather is mostly sunny - you can’t imagine better conditions for a beach holiday with a child.

Sea water temperature

The water temperature in Phuket does not change all year round, fluctuating between +27°C and +29°C. It seems that under such conditions you can swim all year round. But it is not so.

  1. During the rainy season the sea is rough. Due to the wind, waves rise 2-3 meters high, which can only please windsurfers.
  2. From May to October, dangerous underwater currents occur off the coast of Phuket. A red flag on the beach is a sign that swimming is not allowed due to strong currents.
  3. Rains make the sea water cloudy, and the waves throw armfuls of algae ashore. Although the beaches are cleaned several times a day at this time, you don’t really want to swim in the muddy sea.

And yet there are places on the island where you can swim in the summer. On the northern and southern ends of the west coast (Nai Yang, Nai Harn beaches) and on the east coast (Cape Panwa) There is almost no wind or storm, and the water remains clean.

But the best time, of course, is to swim in winter and the first half of spring. The sea temperature at this time is such that you don’t want to get out of the water. You just need to take into account the tide schedule, since during low tide the sea in Phuket goes far from the coast. It is most convenient to relax at those resorts where the tide falls at night, for example, on the beaches of Kata, Nai Yang, Bang Tao.

Nutrition

Typically, hotels in Phuket offer only breakfast, most often as a buffet. This is convenient if you are vacationing with a child who has already switched to adult food. Since hotels serve mainly European cuisine, your child will not encounter unfamiliar food.

Many family hotels offer children's menus. But since the common table usually contains cereals, porridges, omelettes, soups, steamed vegetables and fresh fruits, this is not a very important option.

There are also hotels in Phuket where you can eat in a restaurant and cook yourself. Usually in this case there is a supermarket or food market nearby.

You can also eat outside hotels with children. Since Phuket is visited by many foreigners, the service sector is adapted to the preferences of Europeans. This also applies to food - many restaurants offer an excellent selection of European dishes, so you won’t have to treat your child to exotic food against his wishes. But Thai cuisine, if you ask the cook not to season it with traditional spices, is quite suitable for a child.

Transport

Few people want to stay in a hotel in Phuket: it’s a pity to miss the chance to ride elephants, go to the jungle or frolic in a water park. Since interesting places are scattered throughout the island, you will have to resort to public transport in Phuket or rent a car.

City buses run around the capital of the island. They look unusual: pink mini-trucks with benches for passengers. They have neither a schedule nor designated stops - if you see a bus on the road, just wave your hand at it. Traveling around Phuket City costs 15 TNV, the same amount you need to pay for tickets for children. City buses finish at 19:00.

To travel to remote beaches, you can use blue songthaews - pickup trucks with two benches for passengers. This type of transport in Phuket cannot be called comfortable: it does not have a schedule, the driver will not move until the car is full, traffic ends at 18:00, and on weekends the songthaews may stop working by lunchtime. Travel to intercity songthaews depends on the distance and costs 40-60 TNV.

Comfortable white and green buses run between Phuket City and Patong. They have a clear schedule: every hour from 7:00 to 18:00.

Taxi in Phuket is an expensive form of transport. Taxi drivers set fares themselves and do not hesitate to inflate them if you need to get to the hotel from a distant beach, and songthaews no longer operate. For a 10-kilometer trip (for example, from Patong to Karon), taxi drivers ask for up to 800 TNV, but persistent bargaining will reduce this price by at least half.

Since public transport on the island does not work very well, the best way to get around Phuket is to rent a car - then you can visit all the beaches, all the attractions and not worry about the distance of shops and markets.

There are international and local car rental companies on the island; Some of them speak Russian. Important: Parking in the wrong place will result in a heavy fine.

Phuket is not only about drive and crazy fun, but also a place where you can relax in the classical sense of the word. There are many places on this island where you can relax and not go beyond traditional family values. Therefore, you can safely go for different ages – with preschoolers and teenagers. Most hotels have children's playgrounds, water attractions or game rooms, although there is no what is commonly called animation in the list of all inclusive services. Today we will tell you about the best hotels in Phuket for families with children, objectively mentioning both the pros and cons of these resorts.

1. Angsana Laguna Phuket 5*

2. Hilton Phuket Arcadia Resort & Spa 5*

Hilton Phuket Arcadia Resort & Spa- a hotel for families with children in Phuket, located in, just a 20-minute drive from the boiling evening fun. The quality of your stay is guaranteed by the hotel's membership in the Hilton chain, which is considered a high-status hotel. True, you will have to fork out quite a bit for this.

  • Advantages

The resort area is almost endless. You don't have to leave her for the entire vacation. It will not be boring. For vacationers, there are parks where peacocks walk prominently among the lush tropical vegetation. Wonderful birds are not at all afraid of children. Landscape design is common in Thailand: ponds, waterfalls, fountains, gazebos and openwork bridges. For children there is a lagoon with slides. The children's club program is interesting and varied. Active quests are offered (treasure search, etc.), creative competitions, you can do aerobics or sports games. If you want, you can learn culinary delights, dance and even practice the Thai language. A special program for adults includes evening shows in the central hall, yoga courses and.

  • Flaws

The beach is across the road and is open to everyone. Therefore, sunbeds and awnings can be occupied by visiting tourists. Although this does not affect its purity. Eating at a hotel restaurant is quite an expensive pleasure. You can save on food in cafes on the streets of the village far from the sea. The price of the tour is high, but if you are lucky you can catch it at a discount. Try searching for it through a convenient .

3. Grand West Sands Resort & Villas Phuket 5*

One of the best hotels with children in Phuket providing recreation in the so-called club format is Grand West Sands Resort & Villas Phuket. Located near Mai Khao Beach, within the Sirinath National Park. Tourists are accommodated in luxurious villas on the shores of the Andaman Sea. If you like privacy and a feeling of harmony with the surrounding nature, then this is the best option. Transfer to the hotel reception takes about a quarter of an hour.

  • Advantages

Probably the only hotel with . A large area, with well-designed landscaping, a lot of greenery. A large selection of room types - from an affordable one-room apartment with an area of 30 square meters. meters to a spacious penthouse overlooking the sea. Two swimming pools, one of which is a themed water park with several children's water attractions. If you wish, you can leave your child at the children's club, where qualified nannies will look after him. The service is truly 5 stars. The hotel menu is varied and tasty, and there are several cafes nearby.

  • Flaws

8. Phuket Orchid Resort & Spa 4*

Phuket Orchid Resort & Spa - family hotel in Phuket, located in the area. Among the budget four-star resorts on the island, the best, in our opinion. By spending relatively little on your vacation, you will receive very high-quality service.

  • Advantages

Large and carefully maintained area. The landscape designer did his best - there are flower beds everywhere, whimsically winding paths, small ponds with water lilies. What adds to the hotel’s popularity is a whole complex of swimming pools, which will be good for both children and adults. There is a water slide with two spiral chutes - large and small. There is a playground for children. The rooms are cozy, well decorated and clean. They are neither big nor small. For adults, the hotel has a spa center. The hotel is located on the first line and the beach is a few minutes walk. There are enough sunbeds on it, the sand is clean. Near the hotel there is an exchange office, several small shops and cozy cafes.

  • Flaws

The morning menu is quite monotonous, but there are no complaints about the quality of the dishes. The soundproofing of the rooms leaves much to be desired. For now it’s only a paid one, it costs from 200 baht. For those who are accustomed to relaxing in five-star hotels, the level of comfort may seem insufficient. Personally, we felt that the rooms were too humid.

9. Sunset Beach Resort 4*

The northern part is the least noisy and more suitable for families with small children. This economical "children's" hotel in Phuket - Sunset Beach Resort, is located exactly there. It can hardly be called chic, but for a tourist with a minimum of pretensions it will be a completely suitable holiday destination.

  • Advantages

The beach is just a couple of minutes walk away. If you stay in the main building, then from the windows you will have a picturesque view of the surface of the Andaman Sea. There are several pools, the main one is very spacious and clean. In general, the hotel carefully maintains cleanliness and comfort. For a three star hotel the rooms are more than decent. The hotel restaurant pleases you not only with delicious and well-prepared dishes, but also with picturesque views from the veranda.

  • Flaws

Sound insulation in the rooms is poor. If you live close to a coastal highway, you may be bothered by traffic noise. The beach is not particularly comfortable for swimming - there is a sudden drop to depth and there are large stones.

10. PGS Hotels Casa del Sol 4*

If in doubt, which hotel to choose in Phuket with a child, then head on over and find PGS Hotels Casa del Sol. A special feature of this hotel is that its staff speaks Russian as well. This is the most “Russian” hotel in Phuket, so you can feel at home. It is possible to book a room that will have a sliding screen for a children's corner, equipped with a crib and, sorry, a potty. The balcony fencing is reinforced with a special mesh, which increases the safety of living with a baby.

  • Advantages

Russian-speaking service staff (it’s better to check at the time of entry, as everything may change). Non-smoking rooms are available. There are several types of catering outlets: a buffet, the range of which is suitable for children, a regular one and a snack bar. The restaurant operates both traditionally (menu) and in a buffet format. The food is tasty and relatively inexpensive. There is a children's menu, it is paid separately. The hotel pool is equipped with a water slide. There is an outdoor playground and a room where a child can be left under the supervision of an experienced nanny. If you need a personal guardian for your child, you can hire him for a fee. The Pegy Kids Club program is the envy of our preschools. The children are engaged in modeling, drawing, and in the mornings there is animation near the pool. Adults can play table tennis, billiards (for a fee), and go to the library. Kata beach is clean and convenient for families with children. The sea is clean. Free Wi-Fi is available in the hotel's public areas. There is a small shop right on the resort premises. In the neighborhoods adjacent to the hotel there are shops, cafes, and on the streets there are sellers of exotic delicacies. The hotel reception is open 24 hours a day, there is an expedited check-in and check-out procedure, and it has its own tour desk.

  • Flaws

The hotel is not on the first line, to get to Kata you have to cross the coastal road. His popularity leaves some imprint on the general atmosphere in the hotel. For example, some reviews mention independent evening discos under Larisa Dolina and other domestic methods of entertainment. Many tourists note that the hotel is worn out, the furniture in the rooms may be damaged, and the plumbing may not be fully functional. The abundance of children and, as a result, the constant hubbub also gets on some people’s nerves.
