What to do if your flight is canceled

If a flight is canceled more than 24 hours before departure, passengers will be transferred to similar airline flights. The carrier bears the costs; the service is free for the passenger. If you are not satisfied with any of the options offered by the airline, most airlines can issue an “involuntary return.” Once confirmed by the airline, the money will be returned to your account. Sometimes this can take several weeks.

How to check in at the airport

Online check-in is available on most airline websites. Most often it opens 23 hours before the start of the flight. You can go through it no later than 1 hour before the plane departs.

To check in at the airport you will need:

    • identification document specified in the order,
    • birth certificate when flying with children,
    • printed itinerary receipt (optional).
  • What can you take on a plane?

Carry-on luggage is the items you will take with you into the cabin. The weight limit for hand luggage can vary from 5 to 10 kg, and its size most often should not exceed the sum of three dimensions (length, width and height) from 115 to 203 cm (depending on the airline). A handbag is not considered hand luggage and is carried freely.

The bag you take with you on the plane should not contain knives, scissors, medicines, aerosols, or cosmetics. Alcohol from duty free stores can only be transported in sealed bags.

How to pay for luggage at the airport

If the weight of luggage exceeds the standards established by the airline (most often 20-23 kg), you need to pay for each kilogram of excess. In addition, many Russian and foreign airlines, as well as low-cost airlines, have tariffs that do not include free baggage allowance and must be paid separately as an additional service.

In this case, luggage must be checked in at the airport at a separate Drop-off check-in counter. If you are unable to print your boarding pass, you can obtain one at the airline's regular check-in counter, and check-in and check-in your luggage there.

Where to find out the arrival time if you are a greeter

You can find out the plane's arrival time on the airport's online board. The Tutu.ru website has an online display of the main Russian and foreign airports.

You can find out the exit number (gate) on the arrivals board at the airport. This number is located next to the incoming flight information.

19:40 — REGNUM In the Ulyanovsk region today, September 6, the international airport named after N.M. Karamzin opened after reconstruction. The ceremonial event, in which Governor Sergei Morozov took part, began with the landing of an Il-76 technical flight at the airport, the correspondent reports. IA REGNUM.

The air harbor has been put into operation, including the runway.

“Today is a grandiose event: the main air gates of the aviation capital of Russia - the Ulyanovsk region - are completely ready for full operation and are waiting for passengers. We were looking forward to this event, congratulations to all residents and guests of the region,” - said the governor Sergey Morozov.

The reconstruction of the artificial runway and airfield complex facilities was carried out under the federal target program “Development of the Russian Transport System”. Work began in 2015. During this time, new asphalt concrete was laid, the length of which, according to new standards, is 3,100 meters, as well as the arrangement of the apron, taxiways, replacement of lighting equipment, construction of a new launch control tower, aircraft parking areas, and a drainage network. Also, radio beacons and meteorological equipment were replaced, a patrol road was equipped, and transformer substations were installed. The total cost of the work amounted to 1.48 billion rubles.

“Now the airport’s runway meets all modern requirements, it is capable of receiving almost any type of aircraft, and comfortable and safe conditions have been created for serving passengers. Starting from Tuesday, Rusline Airlines will operate flights to Moscow at the Ulyanovsk (Barataevka) airport,” — said the general director of the airport Sergey Nakonechny.

Representative of the Legislative Assembly of the Ulyanovsk Region in the Federation Council, Chairman of the Committee on Budget and Economic Policy Sergey Ryabukhin called this event an important event “for the cadets of the Institute of Civil Aviation, for whom the airport is a base, and, of course, for passengers who will use the airport in Barataevka, which has received international status.”

Let us remind you that from 2010 to 2013 the Ulyanovsk Central air terminal building was reconstructed. During the work carried out, the appearance of the airport terminal building was changed, the building was glazed, utility networks were replaced, external communications were connected, comprehensive video surveillance was integrated, and the latest equipment for security control, baggage reception, and arrival-departure systems was launched. Nowadays, the modern airport is capable of receiving aircraft of any type, and the airport complex meets international requirements.

Background

In the 1990s, the availability of air transport for the majority of the Russian population decreased significantly, which led to a significant reduction in the number of airports in the country, and many of the remaining ones found themselves in a difficult situation.
Of the one and a half thousand airports that Russia inherited from the USSR, no more than three hundred remain. In many areas of Siberia and the Far East this has become a big problem for the population.
To correct the situation with the condition of airports, in 2008, the Concept for the development of a network of airfields by 2020 was developed. In accordance with the program, 117 airports are designated as “core” airports in the Russian airfield network. The concept provides for the reconstruction of 103 airports and the construction of an airport in Tobolsk. About 300 billion rubles have been allocated for these purposes.
As part of the program, the Norilsk airport is being reconstructed, new terminals are being built at the Yemelyanovo airport in Krasnoyarsk and at the Simferopol airport, new airports are being built in Rostov-on-Don and in the city of Zhukovsky near Moscow. Reconstruction of airport buildings and runways is being carried out at Moscow Sheremetyevo, Ulyanovsk, Novosibirsk and several other airports. Preparations are underway for the reconstruction of several dozen small airports in the Far East.
