The main historical attractions are the Forte Mare fortress, built by King Tvrtko I in 1382, and the gloomy Bloody Tower, which appeared during Ottoman rule. It is also worth visiting the Savina Monastery, built more than a thousand years ago and retaining traces of numerous reconstructions in its appearance.

Bar - suitable for fans of thoughtful relaxation

Among other Montenegrin resorts, Bar is undeservedly relegated to the background. However, it is worth visiting for tourists who prefer a relaxing holiday, beautiful beaches with clear water and ancient fortresses. In the modern part of the town, lined along the picturesque Barskaya Bay, about 20 beaches for every taste await guests. The town and its surroundings are famous for their extensive olive groves. In one of them grows an olive tree over 2,000 years old - it is considered the oldest in Europe and serves as a symbol of Bar. Also in the surrounding area there are many plantations of fruit trees: pomegranates, figs, tangerines and oranges.

Old Bar, founded in the 11th century, is a perfectly preserved medieval settlement with 250 ancient buildings. Among them are the Clock Tower, as well as the aqueduct and the Omerbasic XV Mosque, built during the period of Turkish rule in the region. It is also worth visiting the ruins of St. George's Cathedral, which in the 11th century had the status of a cathedral. Abandoned houses overgrown with grass and dense thickets give the ancient settlement a special flavor. Thanks to this, there is a special, not at all museum atmosphere, which allows you to feel the true spirit of the past.

Ulcinj is an interesting option to visit in the south of the country

Ulcinj is located in the south of the state, almost on the border with Albania. One of the main advantages of the resort is its excellent beaches with fine golden sand and the picturesque Valdanos Bay with clear emerald-colored water. The settlement is surrounded by olive groves, where it is pleasant to stroll in the morning and at sunset. Nearby is the main natural attraction - the majestic Lake Skadar, the largest and cleanest in the Balkans.

You can’t ignore the historical center with its stone houses and cobblestone streets typical of the region. There are many restaurants, souvenir shops and galleries here, but its main charm is the colorful mix of different cultures: the city, founded in the 5th century BC, changed owners more than once.
In the Upper Town it is worth visiting the Citadel, famous for the fact that Cervantes was imprisoned here, who during this period created the image of Don Quixote’s beloved Dulcinea, a girl from Ulcinj.

Cetinje is a famous cultural and historical capital

Founded in 1482, the town of Cetinje can be called the historical and cultural capital of Montenegro. It is not like seaside resort towns: calm, but unusually colorful, it seems to convey the spirit of old Montenegro. Of particular interest is the local architecture, which combines stone houses typical of the country, ancient churches and bright multi-colored houses with snow-white trim and colorful flower beds on openwork balconies. There are cozy restaurants everywhere here where you can wait out the midday heat, as well as interesting souvenir shops selling handicrafts. Many of them are created directly in front of tourists, for example, elegant forged products.

The main attractions of Cetinje are associated with the name of the last Montenegrin king Nikola I. Here is his residence and the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, in which he was buried. Among other religious monuments, it is worth noting the Cetinje Monastery, where pilgrims from all over the world flock to touch a piece of the tree of the Life-Giving Cross and the Hand of John the Baptist.

Tivat - modern and luxurious

The beauty of Tivat is different from most Montenegrin towns: there are few ancient attractions, there is no medieval center with stone houses and a fortress wall. The country's main airport is located here, but after landing you should not immediately leave the hospitable city: by staying here for at least a couple of days, you can learn more about the life of modern Montenegro.

One of the most beautiful places in Tivat is the yacht marina - the most luxurious in the entire Adriatic, where you can take atmospheric photos in a luxury style or go on a boat trip. Porto Montenegro is also called the “harbour of millionaires”, since out of 400 mooring places, one hundred are allocated for yachts longer than 100 m. An elite quarter with luxury restaurants and boutiques has formed around the marina. There is also a panoramic pool “Purabić”, one of the ten most beautiful in the world.
