When you go on vacation to the southernmost Vietnamese island, you need to turn on your imagination and imagine that you are going to the village to visit your grandmother. Yes Yes exactly! Because Phu Quoc is now a soulful village by the sea. And do not be afraid of this - the eco-direction is now in fashion!
Phu Quoc is good for its "non-commercialization" - the people here are sincere, hospitable. The prices are very democratic. Bye.

Have you thought about where to go on vacation? We invite you to visit Phu Quoc, the largest island in Vietnam. Just a 50-minute flight from Ho Chi Minh City - and a real tropical paradise will open before you! Tourists are attracted to these places, first of all, by truly heavenly beaches stretching along the entire coast. In 2008, the American television company ABC called them the cleanest and most beautiful beaches in the world.

In Fukuoka, you can relax all year round. But the best time to relax in these places is from early December to late June. During this period, coastal waters are the calmest. October may be the only bad time. During this time, the island often experiences rain and storms.

Getting to Fukuoka is easy. The fastest way is by plane. Vietnam Airlines planes fly daily from Saigon to the island and back. The cheapest way is to get to the island by sea. At the Ho Chi Minh bus station, you need to take a night bus to the city Ratzya. This city has a small port. Ferries to Phu Quoc depart from there twice a day.

There are only 6 settlements on the island of Phu Quoc. The capital of the island is Duong Dong. But do not think that you will find yourself in another metropolis. This is, rather, not even a town, but a small village, but this is where the administrative buildings are located. There are many small restaurants, cafes, hotels. At the night market, you can buy almost everything, from seafood to souvenirs.

Here tourists can visit:

  • So Myon Pagoda. Here you can visit a small but very beautiful temple, see several Buddha statues;

  • Waterfall Suoi Tranh. It is located near the city, in a tropical forest. You can swim in it;

  • The largest freshwater lake on Duong Dong Island;

  • Factory for the production of fish sauce. It is here that the most popular sauce in Vietnam, Nuoc Mam, is prepared;
  • Cau Palace, built in 1937 on a rock, in honor of the sea goddess Thien Hau;

  • Museum Coi Nguon dedicated to the history of Phu Quoc. Here you can see a variety of exhibits - animal skeletons, ceramics, old photographs, etc.

There are few settlements in Fukuoka. All resorts of the island are mostly small towns and villages located on the seashore. Local resorts are very different from the resorts of mainland Vietnam. There is a very calm atmosphere here.

The second largest city on the island is Thoi. Here is the main ferry port of the island. Vessels come here from the city of Rach Gia, located on the mainland. From here you can go on a boat trip to the An Thoi Islands.

To the north of the city of Duong Dong there is a small but very interesting village Cua Can. There are a lot of old wooden bridges here.

32 km from the city of Duong Dong is a village Gan Dau. In clear weather, the coast of Kampuchea is perfectly visible from here. Not far from this village are the most peaceful beaches of the island. A few years ago they were closed to tourists.

There is a village 14 km east of Duong Dong Ham Ning. Local residents are mainly engaged in fishing. There is a small cafe where you can taste local seafood dishes. During the rainy season, this is the best place to relax, as the sea is calm here.

The roads in Fukuoka are mostly unpaved. Local residents mainly use two-wheeled vehicles - motorcycles, mopeds, bicycles. But it's not worth getting upset about it. A comfortable bus will take you to the hotel. And for sightseeing, you can rent a taxi or a scooter.

Phu Quoc attracts many tourists with its truly heavenly beaches. Many beaches are still not fully explored. This is what attracts people, gives the beaches such beauty and romance that you will not find anywhere else in the world.

Local beaches stretch from north to south along the entire coast. Here are the main beaches.

Bai Dai. This beach is considered one of the most beautiful in Vietnam. It is located in the northwest of the island. There are still few tourist facilities here, there are only a few small cafes. A dirt road runs along the entire length of the beach, sandy paths depart from it, along which you can get to a secluded area. In the future, a resort complex will be built here.

South of Bai Dai Beach is a beach Bai Wung Bau. It has white sand and calm blue water. Thick grass grows near the shore. There are several restaurants on the beach where you can try seafood. There are several hotels near the beach.

There is a beach north of Duong Dong Bai Ong Lang. There are several hotels of different price categories near the beach.

In the northern part of the island, there is a beach Bai Gan Dau. It has very white sand. Near the beach - a large resort hotel Peppercorn Beach. Not far from the beach there is a small fishing village where you can see many wooden fishing boats.

There is a beach in the southeast of the island bai sao- one of the most popular in Fukuoka. In recent years, bars, restaurants, hotels, water sports centers have appeared here.

A beach stretches along the southwestern coast of the island for almost 20 km. Long Beach. In its northern part, there are many different tourist sites, but mostly the beach is deserted.

There is a beach in the southeast of the island. Bai Wong. This is a very famous beach, however, jellyfish are often found in its waters. Near the pier there are several restaurants where you can taste seafood. Several hotels will be built here in the coming years.

Phu Quoc resort will not disappoint lovers of relaxation. True, those who crave active entertainment in nightlife will have to go to the mainland of Vietnam.

Here often, and on a grand scale, different national holidays are celebrated. Fishing enthusiasts will be able to hunt big fish in the evening. This is a real paradise for divers. The depth of the sea in the northern part is no more than 10 m, so beginners often come here. Very popular here "Robinson Day"- Excursion to a desert island. Those who wish will be able to visit the most amazing places on the island. It's worth visiting:

  • In a coconut prison (now a museum is organized there);
  • At the famous Fish Mousse Factory;
  • At the pearl factory;
  • On lakes and waterfalls;
  • At the night market;

  • In local pagodas;
  • On a pepper plantation;
  • And, of course, in the amusement park.

About the amusement park Vinpearl Land should be mentioned separately. He appeared on the island not so long ago, but is already very popular. The park can be reached by bus from the city center. Here you can visit:

  • Dolphinarium;
  • Oceanarium;
  • Aquapark;
  • Skating rink and ice hall;
  • Restaurants and cafes;
  • slot machines;
  • Various attractions;
  • Fountain light show.

The island has all the conditions for families with children. It's always warm here. Clean, gently sloping, sandy beaches are great for swimming children. In Fukuoka, there are several hotels focused on families with children. Here you will be offered babysitting services, a baby cot, on request - a special menu, for children under 2 years old - free accommodation with a cot, for children under 6 years old - free accommodation without a bed. In such hotels there are playgrounds for children's games.

But even if you do not settle in such a hotel, the local population will help you solve all the problems that may arise. The Vietnamese love children, cherish and honor family relationships. Many restaurants have a children's menu. In stores you can buy everything you need for a child. True, it is better to take a set of essential medicines with you, in case they are needed at night. There are no 24-hour pharmacies on the island.

The Vietnamese island of Phu Quoc is not in vain called a paradise for beach lovers. Those who have already been there, tend to get to those parts again. Now tour operators offer different options for trips to this island. The hospitable island invites all lovers of untouched nature to rest!

The main attractions of the island are the beauty of its beaches and untouched nature. On the coast of the island you will be able to see the sun setting in the sea, it is magical. For those who want to get acquainted with the history of Vietnam, there are several interesting sights.

National Park (Phu Quoc National Park).

In the northern part of the island is the Phu Quoc Island National Park. It is not as large and densely populated as on the mainland. About 150 species of small animals live here and 929 species of plants and trees grow. Here you can meet the "Phu Quoc dog" or "Phukurk Ridgeback" - this is a hunting breed. These dogs are peaceful, hardy and swim well, thanks to the webbing between the fingers. The park can only be visited during the dry season.

Pearl farms.

There are two pearl farms in Fukuoka, which is why the island is sometimes called "pearl". The temperature of coastal waters is +30 almost all year round, thanks to which Fukuoka pearls are of excellent quality. On the farms, you can see how pearls are grown, visit a small pearl museum and, of course, a shop. Only natural pearls of good quality are sold here, so the prices for it are not the lowest. Farm visits are free.

Cau Temple (Dinh Cau Temple)

The Buddhist temple is made in the form of a lighthouse. It was erected in honor of the patroness of sailors, the sea goddess Thien Hau. Currently, the temple is not functioning. This is a cozy and quiet place with a beautiful view.

Coi Nguon Museum.

The museum tells about the nature and history of Phu Quoc Island. Nearby is an observation platform, which offers a good view of the surroundings of the island and the bay.

Phu Quoc Prison or Coconut Prison (Nha Lao Cay Dua).

The prison appeared on the island during the reign of France, its area occupied 40 hectares. During the Vietnam War with the United States, the Americans exiled prisoners here. Currently, the prison building is going to be turned into a museum. Here you can see the ruins of barracks, torture chambers, photographs and other items of that terrible time.

Diving in Phu Quoc.

Fukuoka has excellent conditions for diving: a picturesque and colorful underwater world, good visibility, inexpensive prices for equipment and instructors. The north of the island is a great place for beginner divers, the depth is not more than 10 meters. And in the southern part there are interesting places for diving, but only for professionals. Diving depth up to 40 meters. It is not recommended to choose diving sites on your own, as strong currents are possible and it is unsafe to dive. The island has a large diving center where you can get training and get a Padi or SSI certificate.

In addition, you can purchase tours of the natural attractions of Phu Quoc Island from travel agencies. You will be offered a choice of climbing a mountain, walking through the wild jungle, visiting a sculpture park, a reservoir, black pepper plantations, an aviary with sea eagles and much more. The cost of such a tour ranges from $ 15-30.

I was a little late with the release of the article - the season was already in full swing. This is due to a successful job on the island of Phu Quoc: I was offered the development of a small site. Now I’ll tell you a little about it, I think everyone will find its contents useful and interesting. Jumping ahead a bit - In any case, it's time to get ready for the new season, so let's go.

We are all used to planning our holidays in advance. We are well aware that the unprepared will be ripped off on the spot, like sticky or, as they say in India, like a fresh chicken. In general, everyone dreams of getting into a farang wallet: from locals to expats. There is only one way out - to carefully plan your vacation and navigate in advance in prices - not only for food, taxis and accommodation, but also for excursions. After all, you are not going to spend your entire vacation on the beach - there is something to see in Fukuoka, the main thing is to choose a suitable excursion.

Having first come to rest and work in Phu Quoc in 2016, Nastya and I faced several big problems at once:

  • The almost complete lack of information about the island
  • The extreme unwillingness of the locals to share this information.

The exception that year for us was Lena, whom I once wrote about, and the president of Kazantip, Nikita, who gave us not only a cheerful reception, but also conducted an educational program on local specifics. Of course, I immediately set about collecting all the most useful things that could be useful to both tourists and winterers. At the same time, the idea of creating Phu Quoc People bands, where we have established a rapid exchange of fresh and not so information and reviews about life in Fukuoka.

Phu Quoc Island - tourism and entertainment - what we have achieved in a year

The whole season 2017 – 2018 It was very nice to meet people who flew in according to our articles and recommendations left on the site and in groups. Yes, now Phu Quoc People is not only on Facebook, but also on VK and Odnoklassniki:

However, there was one segment of life on the island that was practically not covered by us - entertainment in Fukuoka. What to do for a tourist who has come not for a long working winter in the warmth, but to relax and have fun for a couple of weeks? Therefore, I was very excited about the opportunity to work on one proposed project - Phu Quoc 24 - Russian Information Center in Phu Quoc. Let it be one of the first works in my future portfolio, well, I'll boast about it a little later.

Many, arriving on the island, wonder how it is, why there is practically no information about Fukuoka:

  • where to go in Fukuoka
  • where to eat
  • how to prepare for a trip (read the articles frequently asked questions and)
  • how to be parents with children.

However, today I want to talk about entertainment in Fukuoka, about how book tours of Fukuoka online without leaving home- well, this, in fact, is the purpose of Phu Quoc 24 - to provide an opportunity to get acquainted with the tourist services of the island, even before hotel guides take over for you.

What is Phu Quoc 24 - about the site and goals

Not surprisingly, it was I who received the offer to set up and partially fill the site about tourism in Fukuoka:

  • I have blogging experience
  • I have learned to articulate my thoughts relatively clearly.
  • Excursions and entertainment in Fukuoka is a related, but not competing topic for me.

So I happily took on the project. It turned out, in my opinion, quite simply and conveniently. Now everyone can:

  • without leaving home and even before flying to Phu Quoc, choose interesting excursions and tours
  • get all the necessary information, including advice from an experienced manager living on the island
  • book excursions in advance and plan your vacation in Fukuoka

The main goals and objectives of Phu Quoc 24:

The project is open for cooperation and it already has the first proposals for diving, snorkelling, sightseeing tours and author's tours. But enough of the complicated talk, let's talk better, what to do on the island of Phu Quoc and how to book your favorite tour.

Excursions in Phu Quoc with PhuQuoc 24

Conventionally, excursions in Phu Quoc offered by travel agencies and private guides can be divided into several groups: sea excursions (which include boat trips, fishing, squid fishing, snorkeling and diving), land excursions around the island of Phu Quoc (sightseeing tours by bus and personal jeep tours times of the Vietnam War), excursions outside the island (both in the cities of Vietnam and in neighboring countries, Cambodia is especially popular for visiting - I’ll tell you about it in more detail separately).

By the way, if you are going to Cambodia, then most likely you will be interested in the following articles about the sights of the country of the Khmer Rouge, so I recommend reading:

  • - the beaches, by the way, are really very beautiful, wide and deserted

Diving in Phu Quoc

Phu Quoc is surrounded by water on all sides, so many excursions and entertainment here are connected with the sea, more precisely with the Gulf of Thailand. In addition to the classic beach holiday that Nastya and I love: swimming and sunbathing, diving is widely practiced on the island of Phu Quoc. There are several dive clubs with which you can dive and even go through training up to the instructor. Depending on the club and the chosen rate, you can get both small group diving with a certified Russian-speaking instructor, and amateur diving in mixed groups. To be honest, I am afraid of any kind, although the pictures of the underwater world certainly beckon to try. Maybe someday I will. By clicking on the link above on Phu Quoc 24, you can pre-order diving in Phu Quoc, as well as get advice on all your questions. The average price for diving in Fukuoka is $80 per person

Boat trips and snorkeling in Phu Quoc

Such entertainment is much cheaper than diving and does not scare tourists so much, but leaves less impressions. As part of a group, but you can also individually, if you have free funds, you go to sea on a ship for the whole day. If you wish, you can go fishing or snorkeling, you can just enjoy the trip. The cost of tours usually includes lunch and transfer from the hotel to the port and back. The ships go to both the north and south of the island, as well as to the nearest islands, so you can make several different trips. Boat trips in Fukuoka cost about $35 (comfort) and $17 (economy)

For those who want to feel Vietnam, there is an opportunity to visit fishing boat trips and even evening squid fishing, such trips are negotiated separately, sometimes you can negotiate directly with the fishermen, but the price for a white tourist may be higher. Prices here are negotiable and depend on your ability to negotiate.

Phu Quoc island sightseeing tours

From what I understand, there are not so many interesting places available to tourists on the island itself, so one sightseeing tour is often enough to visit the main attractions of Phu Quoc Island. You are usually offered a classic set: pearl farm, coconut prison, bai sao beach, pepper farm, waterfalls, etc. The trip is usually made by bus and it’s good if you are lucky and you are not stuffed there like herrings, while the price on the street is $ 30-40 for such trips. On Phu Quoc 24, I was assured that during the tour people are always accommodated comfortably: no more than 10 people in a 15-seat bus. I think I'll definitely check it out the price of a sightseeing tour is the minimum for Fukuoka $ 30

However, there are hard-to-reach and interesting routes that can only be reached by jeep; individual tours are taken on such trips. Drive a military jeep along the Vietnamese off-road, see the island from a completely different angle. Frankly, I regret that last year I did not try such an excursion, but now, alas, I do not have such an opportunity. The cost of the tour is $150 (in a military jeep) and from $90 (in a regular car) for three people

Excursions to Cambodia from Phu Quoc Island

Here everything is strictly individual and depends on your ability to organize travel.

Firstly, to travel to Cambodia, or rather, in order to call back, you need either a multi-visa or you will have to apply for a new visa to Vietnam, so consider this point in advance.

We wrote on our website how to apply for a visa to Vietnam and Cambodia, be sure to familiarize yourself with the procedure before your trip, especially since a visa to Vietnam is best issued upon arrival and in 2017 the cost of a multi-visa for a month was only $6 for citizens of the Russian Federation:

Secondly, the transfer itself to Cambodia from Phu Quoc Island is relatively inexpensive, about $ 25, but you need to take care of choosing a hotel in advance, you can see the approximate price level in Sihanoukville on the map below (about $ 10-15 for a cheap room for two people) , if you wish, you can immediately book your favorite place on this map:

Further, the cost of food and food in a cafe in Cambodia is about the same as in Phu Quoc. Just below I will give links to articles from our last visit to Sihanoukville. Even if they have changed, they have not changed significantly, so it is quite possible to navigate by them. For example, together we spent about $ 10-15 dollars a day on food. It is advisable to consider renting a bike from $ 5 per day

As you can see, an independent trip to Cambodia from Phu Quoc Island for 2-3 days will cost about $200 per person. The cost of group tours to Cambodia also starts at about $200., but instead of food and a visa, it includes the services of a tour guide. To be honest, having an experienced person nearby for the first trip to an unfamiliar country is very convenient, although Nastya and I, of course, prefer to travel on our own, so we sometimes miss certain sights, however, we are not very eager for them.

That’s probably all, I repeat once again, excursions and entertainment are not really my profile. I can tell you about life in Fukuoka, about Kazantip and Episode, and for travel services, please contact Phu Quoc 24 Online - your guide to Phu Quoc- there they will help you not to get bored on the island.

See you again.

About 20 years ago, the largest island of Vietnam and today's popular resort was completely set aside for a prisoner of war prison. Apart from the prison itself and a few villages, there was nothing on the island.

Now Phu Quoc is compared with the largest resort in Thailand - the island of Phuket. Every year, Phu Quoc turns from a wild island into a place for tourism and acquires the appropriate infrastructure. Phu Quoc (Vietnam) has little to see. But everyone who finds himself in Vietnam for the first time enjoys visiting local attractions, despite the fact that they are small in number and of historical value.

In this article, we will talk about the most popular tourist places in Fukuoka and the intricacies of visiting them.

Coconut Prison (Phu Quoc Prison)

Coconut prison in the last century was indeed a prison, a point where thousands of military prisoners lived with fear every day. Now a museum has been built on the site of the old prison, visiting which you can understand how prisoners of war lived. The Vietnamese tried with the help of realistic figures to restore life and show all the hardships of prison life.

The place is ugly and creepy. It will be interesting to visit it for those who are interested in the history of Vietnam or world history in general. Many exhibits have already worn out and lost their original appearance, but this rather adds to the sights of the surroundings.

In order to better understand what you see, it is optimal to visit the Coconut Prison with a guide. But if you decide to go there on your own, the installed stands describing the history of the prison will help you find out more data. Please note that all information is in English.

Attraction address: 350 Nguyen Van Cu, An Thoi town, Phu Quoc Island, Vietnam (5 km from the main commercial port of Anthoy).

Working hours: from Tuesday to Sunday, from 7:30 to 11:00 and from 13:30 to 17:00.

Free admission.

Vinpearl Land is an amusement park for the whole family. There is already a similar place in Nha Trang, only Viperl is even bigger there. Despite the seemingly impressive cost of entry, visiting Winpearl Land is not the most expensive event. The entrance fee gives you the right to be in the park all day long and ride any rides an unlimited number of times. This method of payment, although unusual for many, is very convenient, especially if you go to the park with children. In addition, you will have to pay only for food and souvenirs.

The park is divided into several thematic zones:

  • amusement park;
  • aquapark;
  • oceanarium (mermaid show daily at 11:00-11:10 and 15:00-15:10, fish feeding at 10:00 and 17:00)
  • dolphinarium;
  • fountain show (daily at 19:00-19:25 and 20:00-20:25)
  • bowling;
  • slot machines for children.

Vinpearl Land is fundamentally different from most amusement parks in that there are no queues. The territory of the park is quite large and even at the height of the season there are not so many people to create queues and crowds.

Where: Northwest of the island, about 25 km from Duong Dong.

Working hours: from 9:00 to 21:00. Individual areas of the park may work differently.

Price: adults - VND 500,000, children 1-1.4m tall and people over 60 years old - VND 400,000, children under 1m - free of charge. Luggage storage - 10,000 VND.

The prices and schedule on the page are for November 2017.

Duong Dong is the largest city in Phu Quoc. Almost the entire infrastructure of the island is concentrated here: restaurants, cafes, shops and banks. But for lovers of Asian flavor, it will be most interesting to visit a real Vietnamese market.

The central market of Duong Dong can be divided into two: day and night. They differ in assortment, color, and prices. It is better to come to the daytime in the morning. Here you will find the freshest seafood at affordable prices, exotic fruits, traditional Vietnamese sweets and much more. If you first came to the Vietnamese market, then what is happening around you may be a little unexpected. It's noisy, cramped, and far from clean. Be prepared for this.

But the most interesting is the Pkukuoka night market. Here you can not only buy almost all the same products as in the daytime, but also eat them without leaving the counter. The products you bought, the Vietnamese will immediately cook. In fact, the night market is a huge cluster of fast food cafes designed for tourists.

Where to find: Duong Dong city, west coast of Phu Quoc island

Schedule: daytime - from 7:00 to 16:00, night - from 18:00 to 00:00.

Ho Quoc Temple is a Buddhist temple that guests of the island usually do not bypass. It is located on a mountain overlooking the east coast of the island.

The temple is remarkable for its beautiful architecture and breathtaking panoramic views. You can visit it on your own or with a guided tour. A guided visit is definitely more interesting and productive, as it is accompanied by historical remarks.

Attraction location: Thien Vien Truc Lam Chua ho Quoc, Phu Quoc Island 920000, Vietnam (southeast of the island).

Open: from 8:00 to 16:00.

Pearl Factory (Phu Quoc Pearl Farm)

If you do not know what to see in Fukuoka, then the pearl factory is for you. The Pearl Farm is one of the most interesting and frequently visited tourist attractions on the island. The farm is the largest pearl mining site in all of Vietnam. Here you can see how pearls are grown and processed.

By the way, due to the close location of the farm, the cost of pearl jewelry on the Fukuoka market is not high. But if you wish, you can buy decorations directly on the farm itself. The price starts from $50.

In addition to watching the process of pearl mining, tourists are invited to take a tour of the museum, where they will talk about the types of pearls, how to extract them and how to choose the right jewelry from it.

Where: 5 km south of Duong Dong (marked on the map at the bottom of the page).

The entrance is free.

Spicy lovers, those who are looking for something else to see in Fukuoka and just enthusiasts should definitely visit the pepper plantations. The largest of these is the Hutuong plantation. The best peppers in Asia are grown here. The plantation has many varieties. Visitors are even offered to taste the most popular varieties of peppers for free (or for a symbolic amount).

In Hutuong you can learn how pepper is grown, how and who harvests it. How the product is processed, and reach the form in which we are accustomed to use the spice. You can go to such a plantation on your own, but with a guide the visit will be much more interesting. In the local shops there is an opportunity to buy different types of pepper as a souvenir. But those who have been here recommend buying the same pepper in the city 2-3 times cheaper.

Location: central part of Phu Quoc island.

When can you see the plantations: daily from 08:00 to 16:30.

The fish sauce factory is one of the main attractions of Phu Quoc and Vietnam in general. Not a single national dish of Vietnam is unthinkable without fish sauce. It is served in almost all places where you can eat: fast, cafes and restaurants. In addition to local use, fish sauce from Vietnam is exported all over the world. Many will be interested to see with their own eyes how this product is made.

In order to understand everything that happens at the factory, it is worth going there with a guide. He will tell you about all stages of the production of such a popular fish sauce and about its history. It is worth considering that the smell at the factory is quite specific and not everyone will be able to calmly endure such an excursion.

On the territory of the plant there is a small shop where everyone can buy the fish sauce produced on the spot as a souvenir.

Sightseeing in Fukuoka

Fishing boats in the village on the water

All remarkable and interesting places in Fukuoka can be traveled in a couple of days on your own. Guides offer tours to all popular places in one day. Not only will you be provided with transport, but they will also tell you in detail about the history and features of all the sights you visit. The cost of such excursions, as a rule, does not exceed $ 20 per person. Meals are paid extra. But if you prefer leisurely walks, studying everything in detail on your own, then, of course, excursions are not for you.

If you have not decided whether it is worth visiting the “dubious” sights of Fukuoka at all, choose at least a few of the most interesting ones and go see them. Excursions to factories and markets are a way to understand the culture, history and life of the country in which you are. To see the country not as it is presented to tourists, but real and original. When wondering what to see in Phu Quoc (Vietnam), always choose those places that reflect the local flavor.
