2. Get to Ischia

This thermal resort is located on a volcanic island, which is located in the sea, 43 kilometers from the coast of Naples.

Very often, tourists fly to Naples airport only to get to one of the cities of the island.

It's very easy to do this:

Or another option:

  • Take the ferry (traghetto) there.

The cost of the trip is from 19 euros. For luggage you will have to pay an additional 2 euros per piece.

Ferry schedule see here.

Going to Forio or other cities on the island of Ischia by boat is faster, but more expensive. Prices for such an individual transfer can be viewed here.

The ferry is ideal for those who are not ready to spend a lot and are not in too much of a hurry.

3. Train

There is no direct train connection between Naples Capodichino Airport and the city. If you wish to continue your journey by train, you will need to take the Alibus bus to the city's central train station (we talked about this just above).

You can leave it in a variety of directions. You can easily find out the train schedule at the station information desk or on the Italian Railways website.

Italian trains may be somewhat behind schedule, but in general the service on the railways is good.

Naples is a city with a controversial reputation. Some people fall in love with him at first sight, while others immediately begin to hate him. There are no indifferent people.

Of course, the flavor of the Italian south with its unpunctuality, unpredictability and grotesque temperamental people may seem like a drawback to many. But if you take a closer look at Neapolitan life, walk along the old streets, visit museums and cafes, small inconveniences will fade into the background. You will certainly enjoy your holiday in this blessed sunny land.

I wish you to return from Naples only with good impressions!

That's all I have for today. See you again, dear friends!

Italy has long been a favorite holiday destination for our tourists. Today I propose to figure out how to get from Naples Capodichino Airport to the city center, as well as to other resort towns in Italy on the Amalfi Coast and to Rome.

Before flying to Naples on your own, I advise you to follow these recommendations:

  • Once you have chosen and booked your hotel, be sure to look on Google Maps for the exact location of your hotel;
  • On the Google Maps website, plot the route to your hotel in order to at least have an approximate idea of how long it is to get to it from the airport and where it is located;
  • Write down the exact address of your hotel on paper, print out your hotel reservation and a map of the area. If possible, download a map of Naples to your smartphone. In the article I will also post a lot of maps for your convenience.

Brief information about the airport

Naples Airport (Aeroporto Internazionale di Napoli) located 6 km northeast of Naples and also known as “Capodichino”. The airport is not very large, and all navigation is very clear thanks to the signs.

Regular flights to Naples are operated by S7 and Meridiana airlines from Moscow and St. Petersburg. Charter flights to Naples are operated by Aeroflot from Moscow. The cost of an air ticket Moscow – Naples is from 99 Euros round trip.

The airport has 2 terminals: Terminal 1 serves regular flights, Terminal 2 – charter flights. There is a bank on the ground floor of Terminal 1, as well as ATMs and money changers. On the ground floor of Terminal 1 there are Galleria Napoli shops where you can go shopping. At Naples airport there are restaurants, pizzerias, McDonald's. A diagram of the airport terminals and the location of public transport stops at Naples Airport can be seen below.

Near the airport there is a 4-star hotel Millennium Gold Hotel at a price of 71 Euro per day for a double room with breakfast and a 4-star hotel Capodichino International Hotel at a price of 98 Euro per day for a double room with breakfast, where you can spend the night in case of an early flight from Naples airport .

Bus from Naples airport to center

Since the metro to Naples Airport has not yet been built, travelers have two ways to get to the center of Naples from the airport: conveniently by taxi or on a budget by city bus. There are several bus companies in Naples, with varying fares.

The center of Naples from the airport can be reached by a direct red and white company bus Alibus. The bus runs every day from 05:45 to 23:40 every 10-15 minutes. Travel time from the airport to the Central Station (Napoli Centrale) and Piazza Garibaldi (Piazza Garibaldi) and the metro of the same name takes 15-20 minutes, depending on traffic congestion. Travel time from the airport to Port (Piazza Municipio) takes 30-35 minutes. From the port you can already get to the islands of Ischia or by transferring to high-speed boats or ferry.

Bus ticket cost: €3 at the Sun Store kiosk at the airport or at Tabacchi shops in Naples and €4 if purchased directly from the bus driver. The ticket is valid for 90 minutes after its validation. The ticket will say UNICO Alibus and indicate the types of transport you can use on it. Please note that tickets for Naples city bus routes cannot be used or purchased on board Alibus.

The Alibus bus stop is located in the center of Naples on the north side of Piazza Garibaldi, halfway between Central Station and Corso Garibaldi. The stop is adjacent to the city bus parking area and is where buses departing for the airport and the port of Molo Beverello stop. Therefore, follow the signs so as not to confuse the bus. The Alibus bus stop at the port is located in front of the ferry ticket kiosks. By the way, for convenience, I advise you to check into a hotel near Piazza Garibaldi in order to go on excursions to other cities. The best hotel in terms of price-quality ratio is the Ramada Naples Hotel at €52 per night.

An alternative to the Alibus bus from the airport is the 3S bus, which also goes to Central Station and the port of Naples, but makes a large number of stops and travels in loops. Unlike the Alibus bus, the 3S is not air conditioned and costs €1.

From the airport there are direct buses to the following cities in Italy: Benevento, Avellino, Caserta, Capua, Salerno, Battipaglia, Sorrento, Potenza. Buses to these cities run only a few times a day, and it is better to know their schedule in advance. Many routes do not operate on Sundays. If you want to save money and travel from Naples airport to your resort town by bus, I recommend that you familiarize yourself with the schedule of intercity bus routes in the sign below (the sign is in Italian and English).

Below you see a sign indicating the distance from Naples airport to popular Italian towns and seaside resorts.

How to get from Naples to Rome

If you need to get from Naples Airport to Rome, you first need to take a bus to the Napoli Centrale - Piazza Garibaldi stop, and then take the train to Rome. The cost of a train ticket to Rome from Naples varies depending on the class of train and travel time and can range from €10 to €30. We have already written detailed instructions on how. In addition to the train, you can get to Rome and Milan by intercity bus, tickets for which can be purchased on the Infobus website. Bus prices are much lower than train prices. Tickets Naples-Rome can be bought for €5, Naples-Milan for €20, Naples-Bari €20, Naples-Venice for €25.

Rent a car at Naples Airport

Upon arrival in Naples, you will find a large number of car rental companies in the airport building. However, do not rush to contact them: prices in the branches of rental companies at Naples Airport are much higher than prices in similar companies in the city center. I also recommend that you take into account that Neapolitans drive like crazy and are not tolerant. Naples also has a serious parking problem, and there are frequent cases of robberies from cars. Therefore, if you want to take a car just to drive, for example, from Naples to Amalfi, then I advise you to take a taxi. The mountain serpentines in these places can only be overcome by very experienced drivers. I can recommend renting a car if you immediately go to another city in Italy from the airport.

We rent cars for travel at the best prices and with the best conditions on the car rental website.

Taxi from Naples airport to the center

The taxi rank is located at the exit from the terminals. Most taxis from the airport to the center of Naples have a fixed fare, which is cheaper than paying by the meter. Therefore, if you decide to use the services of local taxi drivers, ask them about the fixed cost of the trip. In official taxis, the fixed fare for the route is indicated on the back of the seat. If you want to travel at a fixed rate, you must notify the driver before the start of the trip. In official taxis, there are the following surcharges to the fare: surcharge when traveling on weekends and holidays, as well as after 22:00, surcharge for luggage and boarding, surcharge for travel from the airport (€4).

Please note that most taxi drivers in Naples speak extremely poor English, and if you are not strong in Italian, they may simply not understand you. To avoid such misunderstandings, I recommend you. By ordering a taxi in advance, you will immediately know the exact cost of travel. In addition to the center of Naples, you can also take a taxi to the famous resorts: Amalfi, Sorrento, Salerno and even Rome.

How to get to Naples airport

To get to Naples Airport from your hotel, take the Alibus bus from Piazza Garibaldi. To get to Naples airport from Sorrento, Salerno, Positano and other resort towns, order a taxi, as... Direct bus service from the airport to these resorts is irregular, and at night and on Sundays it is completely absent. When traveling by public transport, allow more time for the journey, because... The traffic in Naples is very heavy and there are often traffic jams.
