White Sand Beach in Bali is the only normal swimming beach. Schedule and prices

I dedicate this article to our favorite beach and cafe. Unfortunately, we have few photographs from this beach. For some reason we spent more time relaxing here than exploring. Perhaps this is the atmosphere. White Sand Beach is the only beach that we visited several times :) And the Bali sea always pleased us with small waves that allowed us to swim. The sand on the beach is mostly white, but sometimes it is black - volcanic.

There are several cafes that constantly come up with different ways to lure tourists: either a free dessert, or a mask with a snorkel, or a discount, or a sunbed. We, obeying our intuition, chose Virgin Cafe and were right.

Virgin Cafe
Here they provide free sun loungers, delicious food, reasonable prices and dessert as a gift:))) The cost of our dishes: 60,000 rupees ($5) for Mahi-Mahi fish fillet ( or golden mackerel, which can reach 2 meters in length!!!), and 70,000 rupees ($6) for the White Snapper fish ( snapper), which is also called "sea bass". There is also a Red Snapper and you can also order it in this cafe. The fish is grilled and served with 4 types of sauces, French fries (or rice) and vegetables (green beans and carrots). Mahi-Mazi was drier than Snapper. But both fish are very tasty. Prices for fresh juices are 12,000 rupees ($1).
While the main course is being prepared, roasted peanuts are brought out. At the end we were served a dessert gift: fruits and bananas fried in batter. The place is wonderful - I recommend it :)

When weather permits and there are no waves, White Sand Beach will show you the beautiful underwater world. Especially if you sail to this island:

Visitors to White Sand Beach are not afraid even of rain:

Kids frolicking in the water
Entrance to the beach is paid - 3000 rupees per person. Parking - 2000 rupees.

Vespa mopeds
The next time, the road was completely dug up so that it was impossible to pass or pass, and the package was moved to another place. This is the fight with the “hares”. But the third time we figured out where to park the moped in order to avoid the parking lot, so the struggle was unsuccessful :))

White Sand Beach (or Virgin beach) on the map:

I have already written several times that. I like it because there is not only a very beautiful turquoise sea, picturesque cliffs, and you can see stunning sunrises, but also because it is less touristy and therefore calm, devoid of parties, but at the same time it cannot be called a pensioner’s place))

If the southwestern part of the island took over the bulk of package tourists, was built up with hotels of various star ratings, and also, thanks to the presence, found itself occupied by young people and surfers, then people go to the east to relax from the bustle, behind the clear sea with the underwater world, for snorkeling and diving.

In Candidasa it is impossible to drive past the lotus pond, it is right next to the road

Opening lotuses can be observed in the early morning from 6 to 8,

and later some of them were closed, but in principle the pond is picturesque at any time of the day

We always stop here, even if not for long, just for a couple of minutes

By the way, you can even walk around this huge pond entirely, which we also did more than once,

along the way you can go to the very shore with boats

On the road to Amed, at the exit from Candidasa, on the right hand there is a picturesque path up the hill (I talked about it), and a little further there is an observation deck - a favorite resting place for local dogs, the tiled benches are cold even in the heat, so a midday nap is the best That))

Well, the views are quite impressive

On the opposite side of the sea there are village lands, walking along them sometimes on a clear day you can see this - the majestic Agung in all its glory

All tourists vacationing in Candidas are definitely recommended to go swimming and swimming at White Sand Beach, but for those who are staying like us, this beach still attracts us, so we go to it))

White Sand Beach (White Sand Beach), aka Virgin Beach

This is just an excellent beach, I tell you))

and in my opinion one of the best white sand beaches, at least in the eastern part of the island

True, at times, you can find inclusions of black sand here,

after all, once upon a time, it was a black beach of volcanic origin. Despite this, the water here is a stunning color - blue and transparent,

and if you sail further from the coast, for example, towards that island

you can see a good underwater world - there are corals and tropical fish, so if you come here, take a mask with you. For example, we always travel with swimming goggles.

Sometimes we were met by waves here, but this did not interfere with swimming, because you can tumble in them as much as you like without fear of hitting,

because the bottom here is completely sandy, at least in the central part of the beach, where all the sunbeds are concentrated

In case of strong waves, you will not be able to appreciate the beauty of the underwater sea and enjoy swimming. By the way, we most often found ourselves at just such a time ((but we had plenty of admiring the waves crashing on the rocks,

and walked along the shore, collecting shells. Sometimes logs like these wash up on the shore

The beach is pleasant not only because it is located away from the road, but also in general because it is located away from the bulk of the location of tourists - in a quiet part of the island, in the east,

and the nearest tourist area is located in Candidasa, which is 15-20 minutes by transport (all points on the map below).

The fact that the beach is removed from the bustle of the village and the noise of the road, perhaps, cannot be called a minus, and even if you really want (and have money) you can still settle on the shore; there is one private villa there, the rooms in which, it seems, are even rented for daily rent, although there are currently no rental signs with the owner’s phone number,

but according to eyewitnesses, living in the nearest village is significantly cheaper.

Although, at the same time, I cannot call this beach ideal, especially a “Bounty style” beach. There are sun loungers and umbrellas, but no hanging hammocks

Yes, the coast is framed by beautiful rocks,

in some places picturesque stone cliffs are scattered,

but alas, there are almost no palm trees here... but at the same time it is green

You can relax on sun loungers under umbrellas, of which there are plenty here. They all belong to cafes and are free for tourists, the main thing is to order something in the cafe.

Prices in the cafe are approximately the same, so here it is better to focus on the location (and color =)) of sunbeds and umbrellas, if you want red ones, please

maybe purple or green? Sure, not a problem))

We chose the free ones in the first row, 5 meters from the sea. Sometimes I really want to lie around, sipping coconut or freshly squeezed juices through a straw,

watching the picture "feet in front of the beach"))

Almost everywhere you can order fresh whole fish and grilled seafood. The cost varies widely, there are some for 200 and 400 thousand, but there are dishes at quite reasonable prices :)

We ordered some kind of fish fillet with vegetables and rice, fish curry and 2 necks, the bill came out to 140 thousand rupees ($13)

In some cafes, in addition to Indonesian cuisine, European cuisine is presented, in the one farthest from the entrance there is a large selection of Italian dishes, here it is, Warung Jepun Bali

Cafes fight for every visitor, many of the waiters run out to meet tourists who have just arrived at the beach; we were also intercepted by one enterprising waiter, or maybe the owner. They persuade in a variety of ways, some offer a beach towel and, in addition, an additional one for the shower (in all cafes you can use not only the toilet, but also a shower after swimming), some offer free rental of a mask with fins, some a board (not surfing, of course). , but especially children love to frolic on it in the sea foam).

In addition to the cafe, there are a couple of local warungs and shops with tourist goods - swimsuits, shorts, flip-flops, swimming goggles and masks, some souvenirs

In addition, massage therapists wander past the sun loungers all the time, offering their services; we are skeptical about massage on the beach. From the outside, watching what they did to our neighbors, I can say that it was very unprofessional, from the “I iron for an expensive” series.

If you don’t need infrastructure, you can sunbathe in your poreo right on the sand, and if you move further away to the rocks, you’ll end up there alone, a complete idyll

The only thing is that the bottom under the water on the outskirts of the beach is rocky in places, in the event of even small waves, I would not risk swimming there

Fishing boats add color to the beach - bright, colorful,

There are also several fishermen on duty here, offering to swim further out to sea to snorkel or look at the neighboring beach in

On holidays, colorful ceremonies of offerings to the gods are held on the shore; we once attended one, quite unusual.

It’s a pity that then all these offerings, even though they are made of organic materials, are simply left on the shore, and willy-nilly they end up in the sea, so on the days of the ceremonies it is better to just walk along the shore.

Helpful information

Entrance to the beach is paid, but the price is ridiculous 3,000 rupees ($0.25) per person, for parking another 2-5 thousand depending on the vehicle, and they even issue tickets. You can drive right up to the beach

The nearest hotels are here.

The location of the beach and a map with attractions in the area are at the end of the article.

The main thing is not to drive past, although we had coordinates, when we were driving for the first time, we missed the turn, it was too inconspicuous. But there are signs there, so look carefully :)

The road from the checkpoint goes downhill, and is also winding and full of potholes, so it is not necessary to go to the very shore to the parking lot. Sometimes we just left the bike at the entrance and walked to the beach through a tamarind grove. Each time it was sour, apparently it was out of season, or maybe it was just a wild variety.

There are several interesting attractions in this area that you can visit when going on vacation here.

If you want to see everything at once, you can do it in 1-2 trips or a couple of days if you stay in Candidasa.

Those who want to soak in the Balinese culture and walk through parks with gazebos, statues and palaces should head to Amlapura.

In this area there are 2 water palaces of the Balinese Raja: the ancient one with a royal tomb, views of the mountains and the ocean - and its “little brother” with numerous fountains, a pond with golden carp and hot springs

If these palaces are not enough, then take a look at Pura Lempuyang next door, I wrote a little about it in an article about

And, if you need extraordinary views, and at the same time want active physical activity, there is an amazing trail from which you can see not only Agung, but also other mountains and hills, and the ocean with beaches in Candidasa.

If you get tired of White Sand Beach, you can go to Tulamben, where it is located, and not too far away is the port town of Padang Bai with diving schools and 3 stunning beaches -

From Padang Bai you can sail to the neighboring islands of Nusa Penida and Nusa Lembogan, which we did the other day)) I’ll tell you more about them later.

The beaches described above are marked on the map below, enjoy for your health, if you liked this article or have already found it useful, do not forget to like :)

We send the scents of the sea breeze, stay with us!

Virgin Beach, or White Sand Beach in Bali were opened for us by the guys with whom we lived in Ubud at the Santa Mandala villa (by the way, I highly recommend it).

Quiet paradise in Bali - White Sand Beach

So, White Sand Beach is not that well known to the average tourist. You can get here thanks to friends who have lived in Bali for a long time. A quiet, emerald harbor with white sand, surrounded by cliffs and picturesque green palm forests.

We came here to relax and get acquainted with another piece of paradise from Amed beach and plunged into summer, because in Amed it seemed that autumn had arrived. 🙂 On the way from Amed Beach to White Sand Beach, we stopped for a walk along the shady alleys.

There are no hotels on White Sand Beach and you will be charged 3,000 rupees at the entrance. And then you will find an off-road road, so take a more reliable car.

There are cafes on the shore where there are a lot of goodies, including fresh grilled fish (for meat eaters), rice with vegetables or noodles (this is for vegetarians) and a watermelon with ranbutane is given as a gift with your order. And for dessert, as always, Balinese coffee.

Welcome :)

And here they are - ranbutanes

And on the beach you can go snorkeling and swim in coral pools and meditate on colorful fish.

Rock climbing.

By the way, they say there are considerable waves here, but we didn’t find them.

The beach landscape is decorated with a small island not so far from the coast.

Our guys had fun on the beach like this:

Feast or Pass :)

Beach fun

On White Sand Beach you can just lie on a sun lounger under an umbrella and get a massage, 7,000 rupees and an hour of relaxation.

We also got caught in a tropical downpour here.

Happiness :)

And just at this time a school of dolphins came close to the shore.

And I was happy about the wonderful Balinese girl and managed to capture her. Children in all countries and at all times are funny.

We spent a wonderful day at White Sand Beach, completely surrendering to the tropical sun. By 5 pm we went home to Amed.

Come to Bali, it's truly Paradise. 🙂

P.S. Bonus photo of White Sand Beach and more. 🙂

In Bali, the beaches are complicated, very complicated. Almost all of them are somehow unsuitable for swimming. Everywhere there are either dangerous waves, or strong tides, or nasty black sand and mud, or a crowd of people. We have already visited all the main beaches that are at least somehow recommended for swimming, but we really liked only White Sand Beach (Pasir Putih in local).

How to get there?

Finding this beach was not easy. Not only is it located far from all the popular tourist spots, but the turn to it can hardly be called a road. The beach is located near the town of Candidasa and is marked on the map above. Getting to it from our house in Batubulan takes about 40-60 minutes, along a beautiful road and almost without traffic jams. For Bali this is not very long. We followed the map on an iPhone, so it will be difficult for me to describe how to get there, but I’ll try. First you drive along the big main road from Sanur. Just go straight along the main road for a long time and admire the beautiful scenery, it’s very pleasant to drive. Then the road narrows and Padang Bay begins, but you continue on the main road and pass it, then pass Candidasa. After Candidasa, a very winding mountain road awaits you (see map) and on this road there is a beautiful observation deck, with such a wonderful view:

This site will delight you not only with the view, but will also tell you that you are almost there. Then we finish our journey along a winding mountain road and take a straight line and find ourselves in some Balinese village. This is where you need to be very careful and not miss this inconspicuous sign:

I really don’t remember how long after the end of the winding road there was a sign, but we definitely didn’t drive for long. It's better to ask the locals. I’ll say right away, don’t look for a good turn or road, the road to the beach after the turn is like this:

But don’t be upset, admire nature, there is something to see along the way:

We were scared that now we would go somewhere unknown and not leave, so we stopped and asked the locals, but everything was ok, we were driving correctly. Then they stopped us and, according to the Balinese tradition, they took some money for the journey (I don’t argue, I consider it charity), they gave me something like a check and we drove on. To be honest, the road did not inspire confidence and sometimes it seemed like we were going to get stuck somewhere. But we finally made it to the beach :)

White Sand Beach

The beach turned out to be a little different from what I expected from the photo. It was much more beautiful, but the sand was not quite white and there were still waves, albeit small ones. I suspect that initially, when white sand was first brought here, the entire beach was snow-white, but over time the waves mixed it with black and it turned out to be a grayish tint. But this did not spoil the picture at all. The beach is fabulous!

Those were the waves there. Small for Bali :)

And this is sand, in some places the black is visible very well, but there is little white, I think over the years we will have to bring white here again or the beach will become as black as it was:

On the beach there are local offerings to the god of the sea:

And some other mysterious things:

I never recognized what was in the first photo. And about the second one, at first glance I thought it was some kind of prickly sea creature, but it turned out to be just a piece of cactus. There are whole thickets of cactus on the rocks, and pieces fall into the sea:

There are not many people, but more than we would like. Fortunately, most of them were lazily lying on the sun loungers.

On the beach you can rent a sun lounger, eat in a cafe, or buy yourself some nonsense. We were hungry and decided to have a snack there. At first we were pleased with the prices, but when we saw the bill, we were upset. The price of seafood dishes was indicated per 100 grams, and if it was written somewhere, I didn’t notice it in small letters at the bottom or somewhere at the beginning of the menu. They also added some kind of tax and tip to the price, which turned out to be two or three times more expensive than planned. Well, okay, this Balinese woman has 4 children, she entertained Sasha very well while we ate and somehow I didn’t even want to argue, let it be another charity. This is how beautiful we ate:

A woman from this cafe found something near the road, joyfully told other women about it, and then shared her joy with us. It turned out that these were mushrooms. Yes, yes, you thought correctly. The Balinese actively expand their minds by eating mushrooms and this is one of the secrets of their incredibly rich imagination. Mushrooms grow in the most unexpected places, for example, near the beach. But we didn’t dare appreciate their magic, we are with the baby, he is more important than pleasure.

Because of the waves, Sasha refused to even go near the water, so we had fun playing various games on the beach or just taking a walk.

The toothless grandfather taught Sasha to play his instrument, very sweetly, then looked at us pitifully with the hope that we would give him some money. And since he paid a lot of attention to Sasha and entertained him well, his hopes were very much justified :)

Before leaving, I had to wash Sasha off the sand, since the sand was very sticky and Sashul was covered in it. It turned out to be not so easy to wash off the sand; our baby refused to go into the sea, so we had to force him :)

When everyone washed up and got ready, we went home. As soon as we drove away, a heavy downpour began, under which my son fell asleep sweetly and slept all the way.

There is such a wonderful beach on the island of Bali. A little artificial, since the sand is still imported, but still very beautiful, like in magazines :) Unfortunately (or fortunately), it is too far from civilization and is not suitable for everyone. Until the last moment we doubted whether we should settle near it, but changed our minds. Maybe in vain. If we go to Bali again in the coming years, we will consider this area. I hope that by then Sashenka will love swimming.

After Bali, we decided to move to Thailand to the island of Koh Samui.

But since during my month of stay on this beautiful island, I didn’t look at a single attraction, because studying remote work took a lot of time, I carved out the last day of my stay here and decided to go to the beach.

The company for this trip was my friend and guide. He had been living on the island for more than a month and knew all the beautiful and hidden corners of the Island of the Gods.

When I said that in the 3 weeks I’ve been here, I haven’t visited a single beach. He was very surprised and said that he was taking me to the most beautiful beach in Indonesia - White sand beach.

From the very morning we headed on a motorbike to the eastern part of the island towards the city of Candidasa. From Ubud to Candidasa it is approximately 1.5 - 2 hours drive. It is near this city that such a beautiful and secret beach is located. Few people know about it, so it is very secluded and romantic here.

I saw snow-white sand, I was caressed by deep blue waves that merged with the horizon, warmed by the bright sun and surrounded by endlessly beautiful vegetation.

This is simply a charming place that will captivate you with its beauty. And my love for this island increased many times after I visited White sand beach.

We spent the whole day swimming here, basking in the warm sun, eating delicious fresh seafood and just enjoying the moment.

It's simply amazing here! And if you ever want to visit Bali, then one of the must-visit points I recommend is White sand beach with its unprecedented beauty, warm and small waves, snow-white sand and finger-licking cuisine.

There are many seaside cafes here that serve whatever you want. Freshly caught fish, squid, shrimp. Mmmm…. There are no words!

The first acquaintance with the beach of the Island of the Gods was a great success! I received so many positive emotions: I ran along the beach like a child, Zhenya taught me to swim in the sea, which was a first for me, I walked along the beach and caught moments of happiness and boundless freedom.

And in the evening, local schoolchildren came to the beach to relax. We managed to play beach volleyball with them. It was fun! And later they all took pictures with Zhenya. In Indonesia there is a belief that if you touch a white person, you will have good luck all year long. So Zhenya was in great demand that evening))

And later we went home to Ubud. This is how wonderful my last day in Bali was on my first visit to such a wonderful island.

Thanks to Evgeny Vanin for the sea of positivity that he gave me that day.
