Who's next Pret-a-Porter Paris exhibition is a significant event for the world of high fashion in Paris. Manufacturers of club and street fashion clothing from all over the world show their new season collections, luxury eveningwear and fashion accessories to the general public here. The exhibition has been taking place in Paris for twenty years on the vast territory of the Paris expo Porte de Versailles exhibition complex. The seasonal salon (the exhibition is held twice a year - in January and September) shapes the fashion trends of the fashion industry - preference for one or another color scheme, cut options, choice of fabric, general style, design innovations. The amount of fashionable clothing presented at the exhibition is staggering - it is unlikely to walk around the exhibition rows of clothes in a day. The event is aimed primarily at representatives of the fashion world, but will be of interest to all those who follow its trends. Of course, almost all the items presented at the exhibition can be purchased, ahead of fashion by at least one season.

Starting from mid-February, Nice becomes the site of a bright and colorful carnival. Carnival in Nice dates back to 1294, when the Duke of Anjou, who came here, decided to spend a few pleasant days. Then dancing, fireworks, balls, and festivities filled the entire city.
Now the carnival lasts two weeks: during this time, flower parades are held, a carnival queen is chosen, competitions are held, artists paint plywood sheets, and residents paint each other with spray paint. Every year the carnival comes up with a new name that defines its theme.
Before the start of Lent, the Mardi Gras carnival takes place. Translated from French, this name means “Fat Tuesday” and is an analogue of Maslenitsa in Russia. As during any carnival, at this time the city squares are filled with dancing, fun, and many different foods and drinks.
Every two years, in the last days of June, a wine festival is held in Bordeaux, which attracts several thousand tourists from different countries. These days you can taste wines from famous French brands, take part in a procession, watch competitions in identifying wine brands, enjoy concerts, and take part in a huge feast in honor of Bacchus. The festival ends with a huge fireworks display.
France hosts the largest number of holidays and festivals dedicated to food. One of these holidays is held in the second half of October - the Chestnut Festival. Chestnut dishes are prepared everywhere: salads, mousses, risotto, regular roasted chestnuts. The Chestnut Festival then turns into the Choukrut Festival, the Spice Festival, the Cider Festival, the Fish Festival - a whole Week of Taste.

Now in its third year, the Goût de France / Good France Festival will bring together more than 2,000 chefs on 5 continents on a spring day, March 21, 2017, to celebrate French gastronomy. Each participating restaurant will offer a dinner that celebrates French cuisine, its ability to innovate and the values it shares: hospitality, pleasure, health, nutrition and the planet.
In 1912, Auguste Escoffier conceived the first "Epicurean dinners", with one menu, on the same day in different cities of the world and for the largest number of guests. The same idea was embodied in the gastronomic festival Goût de / Good France, namely in the desire to involve restaurants from different parts of the world. This international event, which first took place on March 19, 2015, due to UNESCO's recognition of French gastronomy as an intangible heritage of humanity, is becoming prestigious throughout the world.
The purpose of the Festival Goût de France / Good France:
PROMOTE FRENCH TOURISM: This global dinner becomes part of this demarche. The dynamism and creativity of chefs is one of the factors that makes France attractive to tourists.
CARRY HIGH AND STRONG THE COLORS OF FRENCH CUISINE
AS MODERN. In the 21st century, signature cuisine is increasingly flourishing, and French cuisine is not being imposed in a hegemonic manner on the world culinary scene. The participating chefs do not abandon their own culinary tradition; we invite them to combine it with French cuisine.
SO AND HIGH. - French cuisine shares such values as modernity, responsibility, customer care, hospitality and the pleasure of food. Cuisine that uses fresh, seasonal and local ingredients, with minimal amounts of fat, sugar and salt. Cuisine to suit every budget, from street bistros to upscale restaurants.
YOUR MENU The menu should be dedicated to French gastronomy in all its diversity, while the chef retains the right to choose to present a menu adapted to the country in which the restaurant is located and local food products. This year's Goût de Frabce / Good France festival menu should be centered around the know-how of French gastronomy.
MAIN RULE FOR EVERYONE- sequence of dishes:
- Aperitif with light snacks (canapés)
- Cold appetizer
- One or two main courses
- Cheese plate
- Dessert (*)
- French wines and champagne (If the restaurant does not have the opportunity to offer guests high-quality cheeses, then you can offer guests two desserts)
MAIN IDEA Every menu should focus on healthy foods, with minimal use of fat, sugar and salt and a strong emphasis on vegetables. However, it should not harm the environment. COST The cost of the menu is at the discretion of the restaurant. 5% of sales will need to be donated to one of the local non-governmental organizations dedicated to protecting health and the environment.
State and religious holidays of France. Vibrant festivals and carnivals of France. Official holidays in France 2020.
Holidays in France in January 2018
January in France is not as generous with holidays as in our country. Having entered service on January 2nd, only on the 6th the French manage to take a short break, and even then without an official day off. On this day the Catholic world celebrates Epiphany(or Three Kings Day). The celebration personifies the unity of races and nationalities and brings peace and goodness to the home. This holiday in France ends the long New Year celebrations and it is customary to start in the cathedral and end next to loved ones.
Carnivals of France in February 2018
February traditionally brings joy with festivities on the eve of Lent. This is the European Maslenitsa, which lasts just over two weeks. Popular carnival festivals in France during this period:
- On February 5, 2018, one of the most colorful Violet Festival. Thematic events, exhibitions of flower sculptures, compositions, competitions and fairs - all this turns the city into one continuous flower meadow. The holiday lasts two days, during which florists from many countries of the world come here. They compete in the ability to develop new varieties, give them the desired shape and color;
- From February 17 to March 3, 2018, one of the iconic events on the Cote d'Azur every winter will take place. Masses of tourists come to the already expensive city (during the celebrations, prices skyrocket!) to take part in the Battle of Flowers and the selection of the Carnival King. And just recharge yourself with positivity and breathe in the fresh Mediterranean air. If you are lucky with the weather, you can even expose your winter-pale shoulders to the sun;
- from February 17 to March 7, 2018 everyone is invited to. If you've already made it to the French carnival in Nice, it would be a sin not to go to the neighboring city, where the annual citrus harvest is being harvested at this time. In honor of the celebration, a parade of lemon-orange figures is organized in Menton, and installations are built from the same fruits in a local park. An interesting sight, a beautiful town.
Holidays in France in March 2018
The first day of spring in France is associated with a truly bright, kind holiday - it’s Grandmothers Day. Any woman over 55 can get a discount in the store, wait for a gift from her beloved grandson and dine on a special menu. At the same time, most of them do not look like tired old ladies at all; they are active, cheerful and attractive.
Holidays in France in April 2018
In 2018, Catholic Easter falls on April 1. The religious overtones of this holiday have long been erased for many French people. On this day they celebrate the arrival of spring, happiness and sun. A couple of weeks before the holiday, baked goods and colored eggs begin to be sold everywhere in France (they prefer to buy them rather than paint them themselves). Adults hide these treats from children in the garden. A fun search game ends with a hearty breakfast.
There are no other significant holidays in France this month. Except that in April the cherry blossoms bloom in Paris, which makes the city, which is already “prayed” in a romantic sense, even more attractive.
Holidays in France in May 2020
The French consider lilies of the valley to be a symbol of happiness. These are the flowers that are given to each other on May 1st. This is how they express love and respect. May 8 is also considered a special day. It is on this date that the French national holiday is celebrated - Day of Liberation from Fascism (Victory Day). Parades, special events, concerts, the lighting of the eternal flame by schoolchildren and the government - all this creates an atmosphere of sadness and joy. After all, on this day, every person remembers the cost of that war.
From 13 to 23 May 2017, Cannes will host famous film festival. People from the film industry come here to show their colleagues the latest films. The festival is a closed event. It is almost impossible for the average viewer to get here. At the same time, there are no available hotel rooms near the venue. Directors, producers, actors, participants - there is something to show here and to whom.
French holidays - all for the Cannes Film Festival!
Festivals in France in summer 2020
Summer holidays in France are varied. Choose the one you like:
- On June 16-19, a festival of heavy music will be held in the village of Clisson - Hellfest. Rock and metal, like peals of thunder, sound here from morning to night. But this does not mean that all festival participants are drunk. Here you can often meet nature defenders, animal lovers and people leading an exceptionally sober lifestyle. It is noteworthy that it is highly undesirable to be late for the festival. After all, a traveler may simply not have enough space to set up a tent;
- Bastille Day(July 14th) is a special holiday for the French. After all, it was then that a rethinking of national values took place. Paying tribute to the memory of this event, on the eve of the holiday, every Frenchman considers it his duty to dance. That's why all the dance floors are filled with people having fun. Another holiday tradition is a party hosted by the fire brigade. In the morning, everyone goes to the parade;
- Immediately after the memorable day, you can go to Nice. Thousands of music lovers from all over the world come there for the legendary jazz festival. Dizzy, a little crazy and so sensual. Since the first festival (1958), many stars have played there, and today the melody of generations is created here. Young and already well-known performers delight listeners with virtuoso playing, for which they don’t mind crossing half the world.
Festivals in France in autumn 2020
Autumn festivals in France delight with variety. If your vacation falls in one of the months of next autumn, you are in luck:
- At the end of September (24-30) France is in the midst of a fashion boom. At this time, the best designers and fashion designers in the world strive to come here. A little later (from September 28 to October 5) fashion week moves to paris. Here, behind closed doors (invitation cards for famous people and fashion designers), the fall and winter collections are shown. After these events, fashion trends begin to quickly spread around the world;
- On October 31, France appears in orange and black colors - this is Halloween, holiday of the dead. It has a pagan background, but modern people perceive it exclusively as a great reason to have fun. They dress up in masquerade costumes depicting evil spirits and go to parties. Children traditionally receive sweets.
- November 17, 2017 (third Thursday of November) celebrates the holiday of new wine -. The French themselves consider it more of a fruit drink than alcohol. After all, the shelf life of a drink made from this grape variety is no more than 3 months. However, thanks to skillful trading and the tradition of drinking for three days in each bar, Beaujolais Novo does not stay stale. By the end of the third day, almost the entire stock of wine is sold out;

December holidays - Christmas in France
On December 8, Lyon lights up with thousands of colorful lights - this is holiday of light. It was proclaimed in memory of the end of the plague epidemic. It is believed that this frantic prayer to the Virgin Mary saved the city from complete destruction. The main event of the celebration is the light theater. This is an unusually colorful performance consisting of light compositions.
On December 25, the French gather at the festive table to celebrate the most family celebration of the year. Baked poultry is a must-have treat. Depending on the area, this could be a goose or a turkey. The amount of sweets on the tables is off the charts (up to 13 items), but the main decoration of the table is a cake in the form of a log or a pate roll of the same symbolism. In some places, the tradition of lighting a fire in the fireplace has been preserved to drive out evil spirits from the house. The first log is chosen by the youngest member of the family, under the guidance of the eldest.
From December 6th, a period of sales begins in France. At this time, you can purchase a branded item at a fairly decent discount. In addition, it is in December - early January that they open on city streets. They offer interesting products, often handmade. Master classes are held that further create the feeling of a fairy tale.
France remains one of the most popular destinations among Russian tourists; it attracts guests with a variety of cultural and historical attractions of the city of Paris, from which, as a rule, tourists travel around the country.
In addition to the capital, tourists from the Russian Federation go to French regions, which have a lot of historical and architectural monuments, museums, and natural attractions. Many Russians, while in France, try to attend cultural events that take place in the country all year round. In particular, in November, gourmets and enotourism lovers are expected to attend wine and culinary festivals.
The celebration of young Beaujolais Nouveau wine will begin in France on November 16th. The festival is one of the most beloved folk holidays and is widely celebrated throughout the country every third Thursday of November. On this day, bottles of wine from the new harvest are uncorked - the most famous red wine in France, young Beaujolais Nouveau, made from Gamay grapes. In restaurants and bars in all cities of France, signs appear: “Le Beaujolais Nouveau est arrive!” (“Beaujolais Nouveau has arrived!”).
The main center of festive events remains the south-eastern French region of Beaujolais. The festival begins with a colorful procession through the city of Beaujolais, after which barrels of wine are uncorked in the city square at exactly midnight and treated to everyone. Over the next five days, the city celebrates Les Sarmentelles with tastings, a fair, street musicians, torchlight processions, etc.
The International Gastronomic Fair Foire Internationale et Gastronomique takes place in Dijon (Burgundy) from November 1 to 12. The largest exhibition of the achievements of the national economy of France has been held for 85 years in a row in the homeland of the famous Dijon mustard; during two weeks of work it welcomes at least 200 thousand people. Hundreds of food producers, professional chefs, and culinary enthusiasts from all over the world participate in the fair.
The Le Gout du Large (“Big Taste”) festival in the small fishing town of Port-en-Bessin-Huppen, dedicated to scallops, will be held on November 11-12. Typically it attracts at least 50,000 seafood lovers from all over France and abroad.
Visitors can buy fresh seafood, learn authentic recipes for their preparation, and taste scallop dishes, which are eaten here not with wine, but with beer. Guests will attend the only competition of songs about the sea in Europe - Musique sous les embruns. Fishermen from all over the world will sing songs about the sea. In addition, excursions to fishing boats and shipyards, master classes on tying sea knots and mending nets are organized for tourists. There will also be an antique fair.
