Winter boots for hunting and fishing – rating of the best. Choosing boots for hunting Two main types of fisherman’s winter equipment

Hunters and fishermen, as well as all lovers of outdoor activities in any weather, know well: properly selected shoes are the key to health. It is on its quality that time spent in nature depends, and, of course, pleasure: when your legs are in order, relaxation is a joy! That is why you should choose shoes carefully, competently and take into account the peculiarities of national fishing and hunting.

Special shoes for hunters and fishermen

Shoes for winter hunting and fishing should, first of all, be comfortable, because you have to spend a lot of time in nature and move long distances. Naturally, the requirements for shoes for winter fishing and hunting are quite high:

  1. It must be waterproof.
  2. It is not advisable to have moisture inside the liner, otherwise your winter outdoor recreation will end before you have time to enjoy it.
  3. Boots should be light and comfortable.
  4. The boot should not be slippery. Carefully inspect the sole: a sole with a reliable tread and high lugs will protect you from injuries and allow you to feel confident on any surface, including ice.
  5. The top should be wide and the instep high so that the boots can be easily put on and taken off without using your hands.
  6. The most stable block is responsible for reliable fixation of the ankle.
  7. Pay attention to the toe and heel of your boots: they should be reinforced to protect your foot from a sudden impact.
  8. Shoes designed for long stays outdoors during the cold season must be very warm, that is, maintain your body temperature, even when it is extremely cold outside.

Try on boots for winter hunting or fishing as carefully as you would try on your best pair of boots for a formal occasion. Pay attention to the height of the INSER: if the upper edge of the insert is higher than the edge of the boot, then when moving, the edge of the boot will not injure the shin and create additional friction. It’s good if the boot top ends with a special cuff made of durable fabric with laces, which can be tightened to prevent moisture from getting inside.

What types of shoes for hunting and fishing are there?

Try on shoes made from different materials and decide which model is most comfortable for you to wear. There are quite a lot of materials from which boots for winter hunting, fishing and outdoor activities are made.

In winter, some people still use felt boots. However, today the buyer has a large number of alternative options, and the felt boots themselves have a number of disadvantages. Despite their lightness, they cannot provide protection from moisture. In addition, in such shoes the foot feels too loose, as if dangling, as a result of which it experiences a large load. That is why felt boots, which have served for centuries, are giving way to shoes made from more modern and thoughtful materials.

Rubber boots are also becoming a thing of the past. In the fall, some hunters still use them, but as soon as the temperature drops to zero or below, they cannot be worn: rubber (PVC) is fragile in the cold and does not retain body heat at all. Rubber is a waterproof material, but it cannot protect against the cold. It is recommended to wear PVC shoes only up to T=10°C.

Boots made of PU (polyurethane), TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane) are reliable, non-slippery, keep warm, but very heavy (1 Baffin boot weighs up to 3 kg). The second disadvantage is the high price.

Unlike rubber shoes, leather ones will serve their owner much longer. Such models, if they are made from natural materials, allow the body to “breathe”.

Genuine leather “remembers” the shape of the leg, making it comfortable to wear. But do not forget: if the leather is wet, then shoes made from it will cause numerous problems for a hunter or fisherman. Your feet will instantly freeze, pain from calluses and corns will appear, and your vacation will be ruined.

Much more reliable, especially in winter, are boots made from EVA or ethyl vinyl acetate. Fans of winter hunting and fishing with experience know well that shoes made of EVA are light, comfortable, and inexpensive. Firstly, boots for winter hunting and fishing made of EVA will never get wet. Secondly, EVA is a fairly durable material that retains heat well. In addition, it is really lightweight, which makes it very popular among hunters and fishermen.

EVA boots TORVI: everything taken into account!

Among the brands of EVA shoes, the Russian brand TORVI occupies a special place. TORVI boots for winter hunting and fishing take into account everything that lovers of active winter recreation need.

It is worth paying attention to the features of the sole of TORVI boots: the deep tread does not slip on ice, the toe and heel are reinforced, dense and high. This protects the foot from damage and relieves unnecessary stress that inevitably occurs when walking long distances. Inside the boot, the bottom of the sole has a cellular structure, which is necessary to remove excess moisture.

TORVI boots are easy to put on and take off thanks to the wide shaft and high instep. At the top the boot ends with a cuff. The cuff has laces so you can easily tighten it and prevent moisture from getting inside the boot. For winter recreation, hunting or fishing at low temperatures, TORVI has created two types of boots that guarantee heat retention at -40 and -60 °C. The secret of such thermal insulation is in the properties of EVA - the foam structure of the material retains heat in the structure of the liner. The inserts are made of multilayer non-woven fabric with layers of foil. All layers create a system that reliably retains heat.

Thus, if you want the pair of boots you bought for your favorite activity to last as long as possible, opt for EVA shoes.

Modern production technologies make it possible to create not only reliable, but also aesthetic shoes from EVA.

It's good to have shoes for all occasions. EVA TORVI is a shoe specially created for connoisseurs of winter hunting and fishing.

Z.Y. First fuck

IS90 07/09/2011 - 22:38

Boots. no matter what kind of rubber, tarpaulin or leather - as long as the money is enough. I’ve even seen models with lining
Definitely with a foot wrap and/or woolen socks
Z.Y. The first one!!

Rubber feet sweat a lot. Afterwards they naturally freeze.

Rubber feet sweat a lot. Afterwards they naturally freeze.
There is such a thing. But to make sure it’s not so strong, you need to wrap the footcloths thicker or make a cake of thermal socks + cotton ones.
You can buy rubber boots that fit over regular boots. Here somewhere in the Hansa they were selling these.
The whole problem is that with the temperature changes you mentioned, no matter what super fancy boots you buy, after a maximum of two days of walking in the snow, they will be damp. Completely. You will absolutely have to dry it by the fire or somewhere else. I doubt that newfangled boots with a membrane or something else will withstand such treatment and dry completely in a few hours. It's easier to dry boots and foot wraps/socks separately than these cakes of newfangled materials.
everything is natural IMHO

I'm asking for advice on choosing shoes for winter hunting trips. Temperature range from +10 to -15 degrees.

I'll speak for boots.
But which ones - this, as mentioned above, depends on preferences and the number of banknotes for purchasing shoes.
In my humble opinion, which is not necessarily correct, if you walk far and long in boots, then it’s better to put them on foot wraps (flannel from children’s blankets, cloth or fleece). I prefer cloth and fleece. Or, at the very least, a sandwich made from thick trekking ones wool socks and trimmings of women's tights on top.
Take a look at these boots, maybe you'll like something:

I haven’t seen Nazievskie boots, I have ones entirely made of EVA with a fur liner, VERY light, practically not felt on the foot, the sole is not very grippy, well, it still scratches slightly, although I only wear it in the snow.
The ones that Nazia makes, I think above zero and a little below will be quite good, minus 15 I think they won’t do, although if you wrap your overcoat...

Regular socks are enough. I dry it on the stove or by the fire. They don't get wet.

Boots made of polyurethane foam...

Hunter 31 07/28/2011 - 14:27

I am increasingly leaning towards these boots myself.

Skywatcher 07/31/2011 - 08:29

Boots made from the material "EVA" (ethylene vinyl acetate) in cold temperatures of -15..-20 degrees C begin to "tan" and make noise.

keep in mind if you are taking it for walking hunting.

“EVA” is a good heat insulator, so my legs really “cook” in them at +10 degrees Celsius with active movement - just have time to change your socks to dry ones. As for me - shoes made of "EVA" for cool weather and light frost.

Although the price is, of course, more than attractive. I would definitely recommend EVA galoshes for bivouac (light, comfortable, comfortable) - just keep them away from fire.

Boots made of polyurethane foam...
up to -20 - excellent, with a thermal sock and liner naturally.
We sell Polish ones and Rostov ones in sports stores and stores like metrics, obi. They cost 600-700 rubles. You just need to choose those with thicker soles.
Light (very, I don’t know any alternative), warm, doesn’t get wet, and yes, it also floats (those who like to sink boats in forest lakes will appreciate it).
Disadvantages - can be pierced by knots, they become deformed from fire. If you run through the swamps of the Leningrad region, there is little wear and tear, I’ve been walking for three years now. The stones may wear off quickly...
There are probably better shoes, but in terms of price/quality ratio, it’s unlikely.

yes, I also subscribe to these boots - the manufacturer may be different, but the essence is the same - the material and thickness of the sole + put in a felt insole + 2 cotton socks at - 26, 3-5 hours on the number after 1.5 km along snowy paths - I don’t care about the smoke, but there are plenty of companies selling it right now and the price is up to 1000 rubles... mine is 2 years old, only the outer edges of the heels were noticeably worn away.

Sasha 1980 08/24/2011 - 20:49

I tried a lot of things, settled on Soviet kirzach boots one size larger with a woolen sock and a cloth footcloth at -15, the only colder thing is self-made felt boots for the same set, with a new mochish to fit on your leg, over stockings ozk.cheap and cheerful.

fenimore 06.10.2011 - 22:24

I just want to say... - He's a nerd in underpants, but not a hunter in a fur coat...

Rafa16rus 07.10.2011 - 11:40

I'm increasingly leaning towards these BAFFIN HUNTER boots. Who has used these, what are the reviews?

There are similar ones, Baffin Trappers. Rubber boot on the outside, multi-layer liner on the inside. I wear them fishing in the winter. Up to -25 normal in static conditions, if lower, then the socks freeze slightly. They are comfortable on the go down to -30 (I haven’t worn them below). They have a clever system for removing moisture, it condenses on the inside of the boot, but your feet are ALWAYS dry in them, no matter what sock you wear))). My father has a Baffin Titan, so they are too warm, and when moving at -20, his legs “burn” slightly. On the Baffin website you need to look at what temperatures are calculated.

Yerv 07.10.2011 - 20:26

Interesting selection of temperatures - from +10 to -15... Where does this happen? In the sense that for some reason I thought that in warm weather (from +15 to -5) rubber/PVC boots were needed, and in cold weather (from -5 to -30) - shoe covers. This is with a fairly moist substrate underfoot and experience since 1994. Understand correctly, maybe I’m wrong, of course, and I can’t afford super-duper-nanotechnological shoes with Swarovski crystals, but... why not from +60 to - 60? Went out in the summer in Central Asia, went to Taimyr in the winter? And also (I’m kind of boring today) some kind of hunting? Stand/sit? Or run/carry meat? IMHO, the main thing is to keep your feet dry. If you wear your feet, at least take off your shoes (it was). Sincerely, Igor.

Yerv 07.10.2011 - 23:07

I have one acquaintance. He runs around half the winter in rubber black soft boots. Two sizes larger, with an insole, with a foot wrap. But he is a healthy elk - he can run for fifteen hours through the gullies and run home after wild boars and martens and run home. I personally can’t do that. I don’t have enough health. .That’s why my shoes and clothes are warmer. So also look at YOUR health and how YOU PERSONALLY usually hunt. Maybe you just walk purely along the fields and the terrain is flat... Or maybe, like my friend, you run through ravines.

It’s better to shoot yourself than to mock yourself in such shoes while hunting...

That's right! OZK will give you a ride when you don’t have to go far!
On a business trip in the 90s, we tried this option through mud (OZK over ankle boots). You can sit in a trench, you can walk slowly (and not for long), but if you run around, it’s figs!!!

alexcom1566 10/17/2011 - 12:42

And I went to P oridginal for two years (Swedish boots made of polyurethane, with a sheep inside). In the forest at +5 I wore a simple sock, and at -15-20 I wore a thick thermal sock. If you had to stand at the number for a long time, and then also wait for the dogs, then after 2 hours your feet began to freeze, you just started walking and everything warmed up again. But the comfort when walking, the weight, the last of the boots are just super. The average price is 4,000 rubles, but someone on the forum offered it cheaper, I can’t find it. But this year I gave them to my father, since I have 43, and I bought them in size 43 and when walking I was filling my big toe. This year I bought a poppy bot, I will try it, but they fit somehow worse on my leg. My friends also wear Toptygin, they are also happy and they are cheaper. But kirzachi and elastic bands were applied in cold weather, technology does not stand still. You get used to good things quickly. I am also embarrassed by wet boots, but in my opinion there will always be snow where the laces are, and decent boots cost much more than polyurethane. Something like that

Check out the review about them. The shoes are specific and unique, and if you’re not used to them they can be a little “amazing”. Even some people are simply scared. At first, acquaintances would be in some shock, until it came to use - the situation changed to the opposite.

kar,e 01/28/2012 - 17:01

I'll tell you my experience. For 10 days in a row I walked at least 20 km a day in temperatures of -5 -15. I went alternately in simple rubber ones for 250 rubles and in these http://www.badger.ru/shop/catalog/wear/muckboots/wetland/.

Feel: Macbuts are very comfortable for elastic. My legs didn't get tired. Wear thermal socks + thick woolen ones on top. Our feet did not freeze and were dry.

Simple boots were worn with Makbut insoles (Good insoles do not absorb moisture) thermal sock + wool + cotton. They are softer than Macbuts, the first 10 km are easier to walk, but when I returned home, my whole foot hurt. The feet did not freeze in them; the outer cotton sock, the tip of which was covered in ice, was once replaced with a dry one.

When walking in both boots, the outer socks (woolen and cotton) were always wet, the thermal sock was dry - the foot did not freeze.

Conclusion: Macbuts are a class for running gear, provided you can dry them overnight (they take a long time to dry - stuffing them with toilet paper helped), and are protected from punctures. Simple rubber boots are also not bad, having a replaceable set of socks will prevent you from freezing. But they do not protect against punctures, but the price...

When preparing for winter hunting and fishing, carefully prepare your equipment. Pay special attention to the choice of shoes, since a lot depends on them during outdoor activities. If your feet are cold, wet, and your boots are rubbing, then you most likely will not get any pleasure or results. In this article you will learn how to choose the right shoes and you will be able to familiarize yourself with the rating of the best boots.

Shoe requirements

When choosing winter boots for hunting and fishing, you must take into account the requirements for their functionality:

  • Weight. Boots should be light, despite the many layers of insulation, as well as the heaviness of the sole.
  • Sustainability. Their soles must be equipped with grooved treads. Otherwise, the owner of the boots will not be able to stand on various surfaces: ice, unsteady or muddy soil.
  • High thermal insulation. Feet in boots should not freeze or get wet at different temperatures. And also they should not sweat when it gets warm.
  • Reliability of coverage. Boots should not crack due to low temperatures.
  • Removable insulation. In high-quality models of boots, the layers of insulation can be replaced with new ones if cleaning and drying are necessary.
  • Correct size. Boots should fit true to size, or 1-2 sizes larger. Otherwise, when waiting for a long time for prey, the ankle and foot itself will experience discomfort: fatigue, the appearance of calluses, diaper rash, or vice versa, frostbite.
  • The structure of the boot top. On high-quality popular models, a comfortable lace is sewn into the top of the boot boot, which tightens the edges of the boot and prevents moisture and dirt from getting inside the shoe. Winter boots for fishing and hunting should not fit the leg; there should be room for warm socks and thick pants.

Important! When choosing winter boots for hunting and fishing, you must be guided by the height of the shin for walking through high standing water or snowdrifts. If the water/snow level is high, your foot may get wet.

When purchasing men's winter boots for fishing and hunting, you need to consider the weather conditions in which they will be used and in what region. Also expect that active recreation may last for several days. The comfort and safety of shoes in this case are extremely important. Based on these indicators, consumers can choose the appropriate type of shoes:

Winter boots for hunting

It’s worth mentioning separately about winter boots for hunting. Take on 1-2 sizes larger. Boots are often equipped with thick insoles and thicker socks made of natural wool. It is worth paying special attention to the rise of the purchased shoes. Choose the exact same instep as your everyday shoes. This is necessary in order to easily remove boots. It also allows blood to circulate easily and gives a feeling of spaciousness and comfort. We must not forget about the height of the boot, as well as in shoes for winter fishing. Even if the hunt is organized in early spring, you should not wear low shoes.

Example. When hunting for wood grouse, which takes place in April, there is still snow, and in some places it is quite deep. If a hunter takes low shoes with thin soles, he may get his feet wet and, as a result, get sick or be unable to continue active recreation.

Tarpaulin or cowhide winter boots Hunters recommend wearing shoes in mild frosts. Be sure to insert warm insoles into your shoes, as well as foot wraps. It is recommended to soak the toes of your shoes with specialized shoe ointment on the eve of the hunt. Or castor oil for better waterproofing and increased flexibility.

HSN Tundra, winter. Price 5400 rubles. Upper: nubuck, thermoplastic elastomer sole, insulation: Thinsulate. One of the best winter hunting boots.

Arkhar – ACB002. Retains heat down to -25, good on the move, weight of one boot is 1250 grams. Waterproof material, genuine leather. Norfin Siberia. The average price is 3200 rubles. Extremely warm thick insole, 4 main layers, the upper one is made of a special breathable material Thinsulate, the remaining 3 layers are polypropylene, felt and aluminum foil. Some of the best winter pairs of shoes available right now.

Boots for winter hunting should also be high. Most often they are made from thermoplastic elastomer. You can hunt in them at temperatures up to 50. The top of such boots reaches a height of at least 40 cm, and in the upper part there is a sewn textile extension that does not allow moisture to pass through. The multi-layer stocking of winter boots for hunting should not allow the foot to rub in the sole and heel area. The sole is equipped with spikes that prevent slipping on ice or crust.

Important! For running hunting, boots should be light models. Otherwise, the steps will become heavy and clumsy. Which can cause discomfort and premature fatigue.

Types of material

There are five main materials from which winter hunting boots are made.

  1. Leather Products. Leather boots fit perfectly around the top and foot, even with thick pants and socks, which is a definite plus. Also, natural and elastic material creates a feeling of comfort and reliability. Impregnations inside the boot, which do not allow air and moisture to pass through, make leather shoes universal for hunting and fishing.
  2. Rubber Shoes. These are the most waterproof boots. However, these boots must be heavily insulated with warm socks. In this case, stockings made of wool or fur can also help. Without these measures, the foot will simply freeze, since rubber boots easily give off heat.
  3. Neoprene shoes. It has excellent thermal insulation, moisture resistance, strength, and elasticity. They have a powerful protector inserted into them; it will not prevent slipping on crust or ice. Shoes made of neoprene securely fix the foot, thereby allowing you to move quickly.
  4. Polyurethane boots. Such shoes are characterized by lightness, high strength and thermal insulation. They are insulated with fur, so the hunter will be extremely comfortable in them. Polyurethane has an anti-slip effect.
  5. Felt boots. Traditional northern shoes are used with pleasure by hunters. The only negative is that felt boots require special care.

Felt boots are considered classic shoes for winter hunting. They must be strictly sized, otherwise they may constrain the leg or rub calluses. The ideal option would be worn out and hemmed felt boots. In them, the hunter's feet will feel comfortable and warm. When choosing felt boots, you need to choose light colors. Brown or black indicate a hunter in the snow.

If the boots are too high, for example, above the kneecap, they are restrictive when walking and complicate hunting. To prevent snow from getting into the boot, warm pants need to be pulled over the shoes. If a thaw comes, then felt soles are sewn to felt boots. It is laid with a leather insole in the space between the felt boots and the sole. Instead of traditional felt boots, depending on the climate and characteristics of the region, hunters choose high boots and torbazas.

How to care for winter boots for hunting and fishing

Shoes made from neoprene, does not require serious care. Only cleaning from dirt after completing active recreation. Neoprene itself is extremely resistant to various solvents, synthetic liquids, and alkalis. That is why they can be stored anywhere.

Likewise, boots made from rubber. However, unlike neoprene ones, store them in a dry place. Shoes made of polyurethane also do not require specialized care. Moreover, it is capable of self-cleaning, thanks to the unique properties of the material.

But for marsh and rubber boots require careful care. They should not dry out, they should not remain in a frozen room. Otherwise, the material becomes brittle and microcracks may appear, which subsequently begin to let water through.

Care felt boots most energy-consuming. They need to be kept from moths, dust, and water. Clean only with fine sandpaper or a moderately hard brush. These shoes should absolutely not be washed under water. During storage, felt boots should be wrapped in newspapers or polyethylene.

What to look for when purchasing

There are several nuances of shoes for winter active recreation. For example:

  1. When shoes of this type are made, they are not glued together, but parts of the boots are welded into each other;
  2. When choosing boots made of EVA, it is worth considering that they are not puncture resistant;
  3. After purchasing boots for winter hunting and fishing, they must be worn in;
  4. With the most elastic sole, your feet will feel less tired;
  5. It is easier to care for shoes that have a removable thermal insulation insert;
  6. When purchasing boots, you should take care in specialized stores to avoid purchasing counterfeits;
  7. The deeper the tread pattern, the greater the stability of the boots.

It is necessary to summarize, taking into account the variety of information presented. Shoes for winter hunting and fishing must be worn in first. When purchasing, you need to take 1-2 sizes larger than regular shoes, but with about the same instep. Care for your shoes based on the material they are made from and check your boots beforehand. With these simple steps, hunting and fishing in winter will become one of your most favorite and comfortable activities.

Outdoor gear is key, especially in winter. When fishing or hunting in subzero temperatures, the first thing you should pay attention to is the quality of your shoes, since the lower extremities can easily become frostbitten due to reduced blood circulation.

The review presents the best manufacturing companies whose range includes winter boots for fishing. The rating was compiled based on the characteristics of the product and its performance. Feedback from owners who successfully use winter fishing boots from one of the brands was also taken into account. For the convenience of the reader, the top rating of domestic and foreign manufacturers was formed in different categories.

The best domestic manufacturers of boots for winter fishing

5 Sardonix

Best price
Country Russia
Rating (2019): 4.4

For almost a quarter of a century, the Russian company Sardonix has been producing shoes made of ethylene vinyl acetate and polyvinyl chloride. The manufacturer uses imported high-tech equipment, thanks to which the quality of products meets high international standards. While maintaining the best price affordability on the market, the company focused specifically on performance characteristics and assortment saturation, including in the category of models for active recreation in winter.

Judging by customer reviews and manufacturer’s recommendations, shoe covers (Amur, Bars, Sapsan, Kombat, etc.) are perfect for winter fishing. The aggressive tread and steel studs on the sole are designed for confident movement on ice in water bodies. They are light, waterproof, and thanks to the lacing, they fit perfectly on any foot. At the same time, the boots retain elasticity in cold weather without limiting mobility at all. The inner sock is made of foil and natural pressed fibers. In addition, the upper part has a fur insert (artificial material) for better thermal insulation.

4 Dune

The most wear-resistant
Country Russia
Rating (2019): 4.5

The domestic manufacturer has been producing a wide range of shoes for more than 40 years, including a model range for hunting and fishing. Part of the workshops of the Astrakhan rubber footwear plant was reorganized in the late 90s into the Duna company, which was not going to be content with the regional level of the enterprise and actively began to seriously modernize the equipment and expand the range. Today, Duna representative offices are located throughout Russia, and the products, thanks to their high quality and unique developments in the field of preparation of raw materials, are in steadily growing demand.

The 131SHU winter fishing model is practical and has better wear resistance. The boots are fully sealed, have laces for a comfortable fit and an inner sock made of wool felt and foil material, so severe frosts will not be an obstacle to fishing. For reliable thermal insulation, an EVA insole is also used. A wide range of sizes (42-47 sizes), availability of goods on the market and high quality workmanship have earned many positive reviews and recommendations from owners.

3 Nova Tour

The most comfortable and lightest
Country Russia
Rating (2019): 4.6

The Russian manufacturer occupies a leading position in the market of equipment for outdoor activities. The company was founded in 1996, and during this time it was able to significantly expand its product range. Equipment for fishing, including winter, began to be produced several years ago, successfully competing with imported, more expensive brands. The highly focused Fisherman Nova Tour series also has excellent boots for ice fishing.

Low-temperature (up to -40 °C) Fisherman Spike, which are very convenient to wear, are popular. They are completely waterproof, with thick PVC soles and two-layer combined wool-based insulation (synthetics and foil added). The boots have steel spikes for confident movement on ice, and are of high quality workmanship. Another successful solution for winter, judging by the reviews, was the Begul model. They look more modern, have a warm sock liner (10 mm thick) and a treaded sole without studs. At the same time, boots of this model are 400 grams lighter (1.5 kg), but can be used at temperatures not lower than -30 °C.

2 Torvi

Best design
Country Russia
Rating (2019): 5.0

The well-known brand Torvi is in second place in the ranking of the best. The company produces EVA boots. It was this fact that brought the company enormous popularity. All models are distinguished by high reliability, resistance to low temperatures, and excellent quality. The upper cuff is water resistant and has a reflective strip. The thick sole with tread prevents the shoes from slipping on ice. The wide shaft and high instep ensure high functionality in use.

The most popular Torvi models are Onega, T-45, T-60, T-25 (according to temperature conditions). The liner has seven layers that protect against cold and help remove excess moisture out. Reviews about the company are extremely positive. Fishermen note high strength and excellent insulation. I really like the design: a convenient lock that protects from snow, a flexible but thick sole. The minimal weight of the shoes was also noticed, despite the bulky appearance. Torvi always means high quality and convenience.

Types of boots for winter fishing

Depending on the loads withstand and weather conditions, winter boots differ in their design:

  • Rubber boots with insulation. A molded boot with a neoprene shaft provides the best protection against water. The inner lining (most often a removable sock), as a rule, is multi-layered and allows you to comfortably endure frosts down to -20-25 °C.
  • Polyurethane winter boots. The advantage is the absence of seams, light weight and the best thermal insulation.
  • EVA boots. Winter fishing equipment made of ethylene vinyl acetate is the most popular and modern today. Low thermal conductivity, light weight, elasticity at low temperatures (up to -50 °C remains unchanged)
  • “Canadian. The symbiosis of galoshes and canvas booties will allow you to stay on the melting ice for a long time without any discomfort. Keep your feet warm and comfortable down to -40°C.
  • Felt boots. Good old felt boots made of sheep wool will cope perfectly with sub-zero temperatures - and many winter fishing enthusiasts choose them. The only drawback is limited leg mobility and the inability to use without galoshes.

Just 20 years later, the manufacturer managed to significantly expand its range and enter the international market, including the Russian one. How to choose boots for winter fishing

When choosing boots, you should pay attention to the following characteristics of the shoes:

  1. Size. Boots should not restrict your feet. It is better to choose a larger size so that you will be comfortable even in thick woolen socks.
  2. Material of the boot and galoshes. The resistance of the boot to moisture and wind, good thermal insulation properties and a soft, but durable and waterproof sole will allow you to spend as much time as you need on winter fishing. The quality of the connection between the two components also matters - waterproof seams or soldering will be more reliable and airtight.
  3. Internal insulation. It is better to choose boots with a special sock - it can be washed, dried and put on conveniently. The presence of a multilayer structure with a reflective layer of foil will make it easy to withstand low temperatures. The use of a lining made from natural raw materials seems preferable to synthetic ones.
  4. Weight. When moving from place to place throughout the day, the weight of the boots affects the fatigue of the fisherman, and the less their weight, the more strength will remain for catching fish. The rubber base is much heavier than PVC. At the same time, the use of equipment made of EVA material seems even more preferable, since in severe frosts it does not lose its elasticity.

When planning fishing or hunting in the winter season, shoes should be especially important. There are many varieties of this item of clothing: felt boots, boots, high boots, winter boots. They are subject to certain rather serious requirements.

Winter fishing boots are designed to protect your feet from extreme cold temperatures, wet ice and water. Shoe requirements

Basic requirements for winter boots:

  • Good stability on any surface. The sole should be equipped with a grooved tread or special spikes, preventing the shoes from sliding on the ice.
  • Increased thermal insulation. Correctly selected insulation material should retain heat for a long time.

When choosing and purchasing winter boots, you should definitely pay attention to the following:

Pair selection

To buy a suitable pair of winter boots, you need to take into account the intensity of the load and the particular weather conditions at the place of winter fishing.

Based on these indicators, footwear for low temperatures is divided into the following types:

Reviews

The boots are very comfortable and warm. The inner insulation wicks sweat away so your feet stay dry. I didn't like the boots' vulnerability to punctures. During the season I managed to pierce it twice, with an ordinary branch. In general, a good option for winter boots. Valery, Perm.

Excellent comfortable boots. When fishing in 30-degree weather, I spend an average of 5 hours in them and don’t feel cold at all. I really liked the design: they look bulky and at the same time very light (about 500 grams). The sole is thick and flexible and does not slip on ice. A convenient lock allows you to tighten the edge of the boot. This prevents snow from getting into the boot. I recommend it to all fishermen. Alexander, Moscow.

Norfin

Warm elastic boots with a temperature range from -30 to -50 C. The bottom of the sole is made of wear-resistant rubber, allowing for high strength against mechanical impact and damage. The presence of a deep tread improves traction on ice.

The high rise of the shaft and the comfortable last of the boot contribute to the ease of use of the shoes (easy to put on and take off) and do not interfere with the blood circulation of the legs under heavy loads.

The basis of thermal insulation is made up of removable three-layer liners. Based on the operating temperature, their structure and composition are slightly different. In this case, the main components remain foil and polyester.
A distinctive feature of these shoes is a push-button lock located at the top of the boot and a convenient protrusion at the back of the last, allowing you to remove the boots without hands. The price for a pair will be around 1,700 rubles.
