New request

An urgent or planned visa to Bulgaria can be issued either as part of a tour or without it. The main thing is to understand the existing types and the features of obtaining them. In this article we will look at the details of obtaining a visa to Bulgaria for Russians in 2019.

Bulgaria is a hospitable country where you can spend your summer or winter holidays. There are warm seas and clean beaches, as well as modern slopes and hotels for skiing. Regardless of the time of year, Russian tourists must comply with a number of formalities to visit Burgas, Varna or any other resort on the Balkan Peninsula.

What visa do you need to travel to Bulgaria?

There are four types:

  1. Entry short-term. It is necessary if a foreign citizen travels to the country for the purpose of tourism or to visit family and friends.
  2. Group. In this case, foreigners must form a group before submitting an application. Gives the right to enter Bulgaria with a subsequent stay on its territory for 30 days. This type of document has two important nuances. First: if you have a single-entry visa, you can only enter the country once; if you have a double-entry visa, you can enter the country twice. Second: the composition and number of group members must remain the same from the beginning to the end of the trip.
  3. Transit. They are issued for transit through Bulgaria and require unimpeded movement within its territory for one day. The tourist is allowed to leave the airport.
  4. Immigration (type D). It is necessary for those citizens who apply for an annual residence permit in this country or plan to move to Bulgaria on a permanent basis.

A multiple-entry Bulgarian visa has an important advantage: it gives a citizen of the Russian Federation the right to freely visit Croatia, Romania and Cyprus.

Do Russian citizens always need a visa to Bulgaria?

It is not necessary for Russians to obtain a visa to transit through Bulgaria. However, then during the transfer period the tourist should not go beyond the borders of the airport’s controlled area.

For a tourist trip to this country, registration of this document is necessary.
