What travel gives a person. The benefits of travel and outdoor activities. Travel is not vacation

"Travel as the greatest and most serious science helps us rediscover ourselves."
/Albert Camus/

What is our life made of? There are so many things we can list. The main thing is home, work, sleep and everything connected with them ... There is even such a rule: 8 + 8 + 8 = 24. It implies that in order to experience psychological comfort, a person needs to strike a balance between these three positions. It's good when there are no distortions, at least in time.

Life becomes measured and calm. It may be planned. Reduced stress levels, increased self-confidence. There is a feeling that we are the masters of our lives, and fatalism was invented by those who do not want to be responsible ...

But, as it turned out, this is not enough. The psyche is arranged in such a way that only emotionally colored events are stored in our memories, and the main, measured, life simply turns into “somehow I lived, but there is nothing to remember ...”. For some people, weeks, months and even years are “erased” in this way. Absolutely unaffordable luxury, don't you think?! Life must necessarily include bright positive emotions, numerous reasons for joy and pleasure.

I'll give you an example. One of my clients, whose work is related to services, confessed to me a surprising discovery. Out of all of 2015, he only remembers three days of traveling by ferry to and from Stockholm. There he felt an emotional lift, a surge of strength and energy. And even a couple of unpleasant organizational overlays did not count. In total, there were an order of magnitude more positives than troubles. This remains in the memory as something light and bright. The rest of the year he spent in hard work just disappeared... as if he had never been.

Therefore ... if you are overtired, life does not add up, while you do not see a way out - take a break. How best to spend it? Intuitively, we understand that there is a win-win option to fill ourselves up and switch to a positive wave. A change of scenery, a trip, a trip! Of course, if there is an intrapersonal conflict, a serious crisis or a problem, then the familiar phrase “you can’t run away from yourself” is true. But I mean other situations where travel can be a renewal for you, a source of spiritual growth and just a resource to move on.

Any change of scenery, in the psychological sense, is a spiritual transformation. You lose your obligations (you owe nothing to anyone), your usual roles (husband, father, son, good worker) and just become free. You have a sense of responsibility for yourself - because there is no one to rely on. You are open to new experiences, you are included in a new life, a different mentality and experience admiration and interest, as you once did in childhood... All this is accompanied by sharp emotional experiences, such as joy, a feeling of fullness of life, carelessness and at the same time delight... the best our qualities.

We become kinder, more merciful, more cordial to other people, there is a feeling that you love the whole world (almost the same as in a state of love), and he accordingly favors you. This is how you return to yourself. Realized (suddenly!) Personal needs, true desires, comes the understanding of their goals and plans. Easily and, as if by themselves, solutions to current problems come.

And, returning home, you no longer perceive your life as a dead end. You managed to get out of the situation. You were able to look at her impartially. The resource state implies that, experienced THERE, feelings and sensations, you bring HERE. And these acquisitions will help you a lot. Because you finally take responsibility for your own life, do not look for the guilty, and therefore do not blame, stop deceiving yourself on the subject of “imaginary well-being” and, thereby, take care of yourself. Do not forget that the quality of our life is determined primarily by how much and what specifically we have done for ourselves.

How to keep memories? Actively use the creation of associations. Well, for example, in a cafe, on the beach, the same melody sounds every day. Once again, focus your attention on the pleasant sensations during this musical composition. It is advisable to repeat several times in a row. All is ready. At home, when you listen to the same music, a feeling of happiness will suddenly fill you ...

Or, another option, some object (shell, unusual stone, herbarium) from a memorable place. Well, everything that is done with your own hands or a lot of time was in your hands. This is where the memory for sensations comes into play. Even years later, picking up a memorable thing, you will experience the experiences of the past.

You can, of course, look at photographs, but in today's age of information technology, pictures have lost a lot in terms of association. There are indecently many photographs taken, they are practically not printed and they do not carry the memory when you gather for a very long time, prepare, pose, worry, and oh, a miracle, you finally get the only photo filled with your emotions and anticipation.

I offer you a useful technique that allows you to save the best of the trip. It's called "Positive Chest". Be sure to follow the important condition! It should be done every day. When you go to bed, you mentally return to the past day for 5-10 minutes. Find in it at least 3 pleasant moments that gave you pleasure. And you lovingly and slowly put each episode into your chest, naturally in your imagination. After 3-4 days, the following effect occurs. You begin to look for or create situations during the day that you can “put” in the chest in the evening. Believe me, you will bring back a whole bunch of memories from your vacation, which will become such a valuable resource.

If you do not have the opportunity to go somewhere this year - do not despair! Focus your attention on the positive events in your life, and try to ignore the negative ones. Remember that the pleasure is in the little things and moments that are present in our lives every day.

Do not regret the past - the past is gone. Don't think about the future - there is no future yet. Live in the present - that's what life is. I wish you to learn to appreciate life and your place in it! Be happy!

Everyone says how important it is to travel. So what is the benefit? The benefits of travel are not just a one-time event: travel changes you physically and mentally. Lack of time or money is not a valid excuse. You can easily fly cheap. If you have a steady job and a family, you can still travel on weekends or holidays, even with a child. The Uturist portal publishes a lot of interesting materials on travel, tourism and outdoor activities. Even just reading a fascinating article and looking at the photos will lift your spirits, not to mention the pleasure of planning a trip and then looking forward to it.

Unusual types of tourism, such as sports tours, significantly improve health. From reducing stress to reducing your chances of developing heart disease, the health benefits of travel are enormous. You can sit in a chair all day, but even after a simple walk you will feel much better. For some people, wandering abroad is even a cure for depression and anxiety. Travel can help you feel better, both physically and mentally. Travel is more likely to have a huge impact on your mental well-being, especially if you're not used to getting out of your comfort zone. Thus, travel, tourism and outdoor activities will allow you to feel a qualitatively new level of life, reflected in all its aspects.

We tend to get so caught up in our daily lives that sometimes just sticking to our daily routine can do more harm than good. Is your boss fed up with his errands? Do kids drive you crazy? Are your parents trying to force you to live your life? How long can you handle this pressure before everything bursts and falls apart? Sometimes the best thing to do is to take a step back, take a deep breath and go on a journey - this is the best way to break out of the daily routine and refresh your brain.

Get used to new words in different languages every time you travel and you will see improvements in your brain power. It's even more than just languages - traveling helps you get to know yourself. You may run into difficult situations where you need to be resourceful and think differently. You will most likely develop a new set of skills that you didn't even know existed. Being more understanding and tolerant of a new culture is part of a skill useful for traveling. A quote from St. Augustine would be appropriate, which says: "The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only one page of it."

The tourism industry has been considered one of the most stable sectors of the economy for many years, even in a crisis, tours do not stop, but what does travel give a person?

Apparently, it is tourism that gives people the opportunity to feel something that is inaccessible to him in other ways? Let's try to figure out what can contribute to a regular craving for travel, exotic and knowledge of the world?

Why do people travel?

Since such a mass of completely different people strive to travel, then, apparently, in this they find something they need exclusively for themselves. Moreover, different people in tourism find completely different advantages, which include:

  • elementary rest option;
  • the possibility of expanding one's own horizons, meeting interesting people and other cultures;
  • getting emotions and new life experience;
  • job search abroad;
  • a selection of collections of amazing photographs or the preparation of materials for work;
  • observing natural wonders and teaching respect for nature;
  • acquaintance with museums, galleries, historical places;
  • exciting shopping and much more.

The tangible benefits of travel

During the journey, people not only get acquainted with other ways of life and
cultures, but also enriched spiritually.

And, thanks to new knowledge and impressions, their personality is gradually transformed.

During the trip, you suddenly find out:

  1. It doesn't take a mountain of things to be happy. A minimum of clothing and equipment is enough.
  2. There are striking changes in character in the form of increased emancipation and reduced shyness.
  3. The ability to quickly adapt to a new place increases.
  4. Out-of-the-box and flexible thinking develops.
  5. The psyche is strengthened and, thanks to this, the ability to take a hit.

Somehow I came across an expression that travel gives freedom to a person. And indeed it is. What does our life usually look like at home? Continuous planning of actions ahead for a long period.

After all, at home you can predict in advance what will happen in a week or a month later. Because we are all caught between duty and responsibilities, work and family. Every day is like the previous one. And it's impossible to foresee anything while traveling.

A person who travels a lot has no business meetings and traffic jams, no duties and assignments.

Exclusively their own desires and possibilities. Nothing else that can interfere with a good rest and life.

What travel gives people, let's try to systematize. To all, without exception, they grant:

  • opportunities for personal growth;
  • a lot of interesting new non-binding acquaintances;
  • contribute to the expansion of horizons, thanks to acquaintance with new countries, traditions, cultures and even dishes;
  • allow you to improve the body, as during travel the hormone endorphin is released, it is also called the “hormone of happiness”. This hormone helps the body age more slowly by tuning in to positive thoughts;
  • spiritual enrichment. Information about another spiritual culture, regardless of religious denomination, has a beneficial effect on the human soul.

Are there any contraindications for travel?

As such, contraindications for travel are unknown to science, except perhaps your own unwillingness or lack of readiness to travel alone. The reasons may be different: poor health or moral aspects.

In any case, you should not force yourself to go on the road by force. It is better to look for the root cause of the appearance of unwillingness or unwillingness, eliminate it, and only after that hit the road.

After all, all our trips to different countries are a kind of a kind of psychological training. The only difference is that there are no game options for exercises, because everything happens completely for real.

But this is exactly what allows you to get from your trip a lot of those positive emotions and impressions that travel gives a person.

A change of scenery is a great emotional release! In this article, we discuss the benefits of traveling!

The benefits of travel.

Improvement, self-development, broadening of horizons, new acquaintances and many others. etc. - all this is given to us by travels that fall on the life path of many people. Someone likes to constantly leave the boundaries of their native city, and someone is forced to do this for work or for another purpose. One way or another, but any journey is displayed in our memory and brings certain memories that affect our destiny.

What are the benefits of travel?

The influence of travel on a person is individual for each person, but it is still possible to single out the main points:

  • New acquaintances with people and new territory. You can meet many new acquaintances on any journey. Of course, to some extent this factor depends on your communication skills, but new discoveries will not hide from you in any city. Traveling, you can find not only new friends and a soul mate, but even a new job, which will entail a change in the usual place of deployment.
  • Personal growth. Traveling, regardless of the scale, can reveal new facets in ourselves. Any comfort zone has a positive effect on consciousness, on the psyche, and on health in general. Not in vain, caring mothers and fathers try to allocate time and money to send the child on vacation during the holidays or to the sea in the summer. We may not even be aware of our capabilities until we start traveling, because moving far from home, we are already instilled with love for our native threshold, which so recently we were tired of to death.
  • Spiritual enrichment. Regardless of your spiritual affiliation, everyone wants to develop, and travel provides such an opportunity to the fullest. You can get acquainted with new religions and new traditions, find out interesting historical events - and all this will definitely have a beneficial effect on your state of mind. It is not necessary to make a pilgrimage to holy places, because sometimes it is enough to meditate in a forest clearing or visit some ancient temple, chat with old people, etc.
  • Expanding horizons. If you set out to travel, it means that you will learn a lot of new things, because on the way there will be a lot of interesting things that will attract your attention even in the slightest. Even easy communication with the local population can enrich the spiritual world, not to mention visiting the sights and getting acquainted with the traditions of another country.
  • Recovery. Travel will bring not only new experiences, but also play a role in the release of endorphins, which will save the body from premature aging and improve the general condition. Those. endorphins are peculiar elements of stress prevention, because they are able to subconsciously tune in to a general positive state.

Long walks and the presence of a large amount of sunlight or, conversely, fresh frosty air can fill any human body with energy and give bursts of new strength. Traveling alone or in a company does not play a special role, and if a person is afraid of traveling alone, then this is his personal moral unpreparedness. Sometimes it's even more beneficial to travel alone, because. in this way, one can drastically change the attitude to disturbing situations and rebuild the point of view on the world around. Thanks to solo travel, you can restore adequate self-esteem and gain confidence in your abilities. They often travel in pairs - lovers thus want to retire from the public world and spend time alone somewhere under the sun or in the mountains. Traveling is a medicine that can dispel any negative thoughts, especially if they are firmly entrenched in the head.

Do not sit in one place friends! Travel and take care of yourself!

In the recent past, most people in our country could only dream of traveling, and even more so regular travel. The vast majority of Soviet citizens did not travel abroad, and they got an idea of what other parts of the world were like only from newspapers and television programs. Today the situation has changed dramatically.

Thanks to the openness of borders, the absence of ideological barriers and, of course, the development of modern vehicles, each of us has the potential opportunity to visit any corner of our country and go abroad. Many fellow citizens use the opportunities that have opened up, as they say, in full, traveling the world with enviable regularity, turning it into their hobby. What does travel give a person? What is the reason that many people, having barely returned from one trip, are already planning another and, after a short time, set off again? Is constant travel a threat to health? Let's consider these questions in more detail.

Travel makes you feel happy

Many people complain of fatigue, poor sleep, nervous strain, stress. Even an evening's rest in front of the TV, a good night's sleep, meetings with relatives and friends on the weekend do not save - all this at one fine moment ceases to energize, does not give a feeling of cheerfulness and happiness. In such cases, many decide: "We need to completely change the situation, go somewhere." Psychologists agree with such intentions, arguing that only travel can give full relief. And regular. That is, if you want to feel comfortable, then plan yourself a few short trips a year, abandoning the usual long vacation.

Regular travel gives a person a feeling of happiness, nourishes with new impressions and emotions. They open up opportunities for new acquaintances. Someone finds like-minded people in their hobbies in another country, and someone finds their soul mate. Many of our compatriots are attached to certain areas with beautiful nature and unique sights, trying to travel there regularly. And this is not necessarily abroad: there are many such places on the territory of our country, as well as in neighboring countries. Scientists have proven that a person who invests in travel, travels to large centers for various exhibitions, presentations, concerts of his favorite stars, feels much happier than those who prefer a secluded lifestyle behind a TV and computer. Because the quality of life, satisfaction with it increases.

Travel expands your horizons

Travel is different. It all depends on what goal the traveler has set for himself. If it is the main motivation to show off and overspend in expensive restaurants and trendy clubs or, at worst, spend days in pubs and pizzerias, this is one thing (it is clear that idle pastime does not give anything in terms of spiritual and intellectual self-development). And it is quite another if a tourist trip is planned to learn more about the host country, get acquainted with the sights, get in touch with the history and cultural traditions of its people, and taste local cuisine. It is such trips that broaden one's horizons, make a person inner richer. You can watch as many TV programs about the largest museums in the world, the richest cathedrals, picturesque reserves or historical sights as you like, but until the viewer sees these beauties live with their own eyes, the impressions will not be complete.

Travel enriches knowledge

Many of our compatriots, avid travelers, successfully combine business with pleasure. That is, rest with scientific work. To this end, specialists of various profiles - historians, painters, ethnographers, architects, literary critics, etc. - visit with great interest, for example, the Louvre and Versailles in France, Rome and Venice in Italy, work with pleasure with the funds of ancient libraries and archives, study architectural features of certain sights.

Traveling gives a lot to those who are fond of learning foreign languages. Because everyday live communication with the local population develops conversational skills, allows you to learn a lot of new words, get in touch with the peculiarities of local pronunciation. This is especially important for children who learn a particular foreign language from an early age. In general, psychologists believe that parents are doing the right thing by not leaving the younger members of the family at home. The child must see the world, this will contribute to his formation as a person, the development of his communication skills. Practice shows that children traveling with adults are more open, they have fewer complexes, they are more sociable, they know more and willingly share their knowledge with their peers.

Travel and personality traits

Anyone who travels a lot - be it an adult, a child or an elderly person - feels not only happier and more knowledgeable, but also more self-confident. People who travel regularly are more calm and self-possessed, which is important in our rapidly changing and sometimes unstable world. Traveling develops a lot of positive qualities in a person: the ability to quickly adapt to new people and circumstances, the ability to find a way out of the most unusual situations. Inveterate travelers are less prone to fears, they have more and more diverse life experiences, they have rich communication skills, including those with representatives of the most exotic nationalities and cultures. Travelers are becoming more tolerant and tolerant towards representatives of various minorities - national, religious, sexual. People who have seen the world, as a rule, are deprived of xenophobia - that is, fear of something alien, seemingly not included in the traditional understanding, and therefore considered dangerous and hostile.

Travel strengthens not only personal qualities, but also health. Being in different countries and, accordingly, different climatic zones, a person becomes more physically resilient. Thanks to travel, many older people also feel much more cheerful and healthy, namely those of them whose age still allows them to travel more or less long distances: they have a reduced risk of depression, strokes and heart attacks. Traveling strengthens the mental health of people, regardless of age.

There are many cases when internally contracted and prone to panic attacks, people noted that their condition improved markedly during the journey. Disappeared internal fears, depressive states, various phobias. And, as it seems to us, the more often a person, starting from childhood, communicates with representatives of other races and nationalities, the greater the chance that the concept of friendship between peoples will become filled with practical meaning. At the same time, people who travel a lot do not stop loving their homeland. On the contrary, when they return, they note how much they missed her.

Who should travel with care

But not all travel gives a pleasant change of scenery, a great vacation, fresh impressions, the joy of discovery and new acquaintances. Many people, unfortunately, both morally and physically hard to endure travel. Many do not feel well on the road, they get sick on the plane and on the bus, they do not get enough sleep and leave the transport extremely tired. They are uncomfortable in a hotel bed. On excursions, they feel tired and overwhelmed. If a person travels a long distance for the first time, then perhaps such sensations arise out of habit, and there will be no trace of them on the next trip. When such an uncomfortable state arises again and again, it is worth considering: maybe travel is not for you?

Many people find jet lag and acclimatization unpleasant. People who are too sensitive to these effects will most likely have to give up long-distance travel, as there is a risk to health. Because colds can become more frequent, indigestion occurs from unusual local food, as well as weakness, drowsiness, headaches, and blood pressure surges. Those who are less sensitive can minimize the risks by consulting a doctor before traveling without canceling their planned trip. Specialists and pregnant women also call for caution, since not everyone can withstand the inconvenience associated with flights and acclimatization.

At the same time, we should not forget that people belong to different psychological types. Therefore, it is hardly worth recommending regular travel, for example, to an introvert. For him, the best rest is to stay at home once again, immerse yourself in reading, chat on social networks. Trying to force such a person out of his usual environment and “sculpt” a traveler out of him means inflicting psychological trauma on him.
