Traveling to Thailand: how long is the flight to Thailand and what is the best way to get there? How much to fly to Thailand from St. Petersburg and other questions about Thailand How much to fly to Thailand from different cities

How many hours to fly to Thailand from Moscow? This question worries most travelers today, because such trips are more affordable. Since you can fly to the state of Southeast Asia with a transfer or a direct flight. Both options are subject to analysis.

How much to fly from Moscow to Thailand with a transfer is difficult to answer. Here, weather conditions play a dominant role. Often such a flight is carried out with a landing in a European country. Surprisingly, transfers are in demand, since such flights can be quite economical from a financial point of view. But it all depends on the airline - not all offer benefits and discounts for inconvenient flights.

It is definitely impossible to calculate the flight time from Moscow to Thailand with a transfer. Even if the plane lands in a European country as scheduled, the flight may be delayed due to bad weather conditions or customs proceedings.

But how long does it take to fly with a transfer? The flight time is calculated from 11 hours - this is only the actual time the aircraft stays in the sky. Due to the problems that have arisen, the flight may increase in time up to 20 hours. Here, airlines often offer discounts on next flights, which makes the cost of tickets even lower.

Direct flight

How much is a direct flight to Thailand from Moscow? This question is asked most often, because not all tourists are delighted with a long flight with a transfer. A direct flight requires the same long flight time - this is due to the large distance between cities:

  1. Distance Moscow - Bangkok is 7053 km in a straight line.
  2. Moscow - Phuket - 7495 km in a straight line.
  3. Moscow - Pattaya - 7177 km in a straight line.

A long distance requires a lot of time to overcome, so a direct flight to Bangkok Airport will take a minimum time of 8 hours and 40 minutes. Subject to possible complications in flight, the time will increase to 9 hours 20 minutes. As for Phuket, here the flight time is increased: the minimum time will be 8 hours 50 minutes, and the maximum - 9 hours 30 minutes.

Travelers are interested in the question of how long it takes to fly to Pattaya. Vacationers should be disappointed - there is no airport in Pattaya. Therefore, from Moscow you can fly only to Bangkok or Phuket. Further travel within the country is possible only by bus or rented car. A taxi also "comes" to the rescue, but when booking a hotel in the provinces of the country, you will have to pay a large sum.

Beneficial savings

The article is written primarily for travelers who plan to fly to Thailand on their own, and not go on a tour. It will be useful both for those traveling one way and for those who are interested in round-trip tickets.

Let's start!

To search and compare prices, we personally use flight search engines - Aviasales and Skyscanner. There are enough of them to find the lowest ticket prices to Thailand, in addition, both sites have convenient functionality that facilitates the search (price calendars, ticket price statistics, etc.)

1. Where to fly the cheapest

Direct flights from Russia to Thailand are carried out only in two directions - to Bangkok and Phuket. It is to these cities that it is cheapest to fly - both direct flights and flights with transfers.

Airplanes fly to Bangkok more often and, as a rule, tickets are cheaper. Phuket, in general, is more expensive to get to, but there are often options for flights with the approximate same price as to Bangkok.

What if I want to go to another resort?

Some Thai resorts can be reached by purchasing a separate ticket for a domestic flight - this way you can fly to Koh Samui, Krabi, etc.

Other cities can be reached by land (for example, a transfer from Bangkok to Pattaya takes only 2 hours).

2. The cost of tickets to Thailand from Moscow and St. Petersburg

The cheapest tickets to Bangkok usually fall on January-May, and to Phuket - from February to June.

2.1 Direct flights

Direct flights between Moscow and Phuket are operated by Aeroflot, Azur Air and Nordwind Airlines, and only Aeroflot and THAI Airways to Bangkok.

At the same time, it is unlikely that it will be possible to fly to Thailand inexpensively: direct flights are usually 20-30% more expensive than flights with transfers.

From Moscow to Bangkok

Prices for flights from Moscow to Bangkok start at 24,500 rubles, but most options start from 26,000-27,000 rubles.

From Moscow to Phuket

Tickets for direct flights to Phuket cost at least 29,000 rubles.

From Saint-Petersburg

It is impossible to fly to Thailand on a cheap direct flight from St. Petersburg: tickets to Bangkok cost from 40,000 rubles and, in general, appear on sale infrequently. Prices for a flight to Phuket start at 56,000 rubles.

2.2 Flights with transfers

For those who are looking for a cheap way to get to Thailand, the best option would be a flight with transfers. This is how most airlines fly, and finding such tickets is easier.

The following companies fly with transfers:

  • Qatar Airways - with a transfer in Doha (Qatar);
  • Etihad - change in Abu Dhabi (UAE)
  • Emirates and Flydubai - fly through Dubai (UAE)
  • China Southern - via Guangzhou (China)
  • Turkish Airlines - with a transfer in Istanbul (Türkiye)
  • Finnair - Helsinki (Finland)
  • and some others

When choosing flights, pay attention to the duration of the transfer: sometimes you come across good-priced tickets, but with a travel time of 35-40 hours.

From Moscow

The cost of a flight from Moscow starts from 20,900 rubles, but the duration of the flight is not the most convenient (16-30 hours). At a price of 22,800 rubles, you can find options with a flight to Bangkok in 13-15 hours. Flying to Phuket will be 1000-2000 rubles more expensive.

From Petersburg

Tickets from St. Petersburg to Bangkok with transfers cost from 24,500 rubles, but for such a price, the flight time will be 18-20 hours or more. Prices for short flights start from 27,000-28,000 rubles.

You can find even cheaper tickets to Phuket (from 22,000 rubles), but good options cost about the same as to Bangkok.

For a more visual search for cheap flights, use the calendar:

  1. Look for tickets in advance- it is advisable to buy them 2-3 months before departure, and the search can be started even earlier. The closer to departure, the higher the price.
  2. Experiment with departure dates: a ticket for neighboring dates can sometimes be one and a half times cheaper.
  3. View airline promotions There are some good deals out there. You can see them.
  4. Check tickets to other locations– cities in Thailand or nearby countries. An alternative option is to watch tickets not from your city (even if there is an airport there), but from a nearby larger one (for the central part of Russia - from Moscow and St. Petersburg, for the regions - from Novosibirsk, Irkutsk, etc.). S7 Airlines has direct flights to Thailand from many cities in Siberia and the Far East.
  5. Keep track of ticket prices on the desired dates or range of dates through the aviasales service - as soon as the price drops, a notification about this will be sent to your mail. It is relevant if you started searching in advance and are ready to wait some time with the purchase.

A few nuances worth paying attention to:

  • a round-trip ticket usually costs 30-40% less than separate round-trip tickets
  • if you still decide to fly to Thailand with one ticket and return with another, remember that without a return ticket, Thai border guards may simply not let you into the country
  • the cost of the flight is usually higher when the tourist season is in Thailand - that is, in late autumn and winter
  • tickets for New Year's dates are always the most expensive of the year

3.1 Tickets through a third country

Sometimes you can fly to Thailand cheaper if you look for tickets through a third country - for example, Malaysia or Vietnam. The method often works for one-way tickets, but sometimes there are good round-trip options.

Low prices for tickets to a third country may be associated with the seasonality of holidays in it or with airline promotions for certain flight destinations.

In this case, you can fly cheaply, for example, to Kuala Lumpur, and from there get cheap tickets to Phuket through a low-cost airline. In total, such a flight can be cheaper than a direct ticket to Phuket.

In our experience, low-cost flights are easier to find on Skyscanner, but there are also options on Aviasales.

Where to look for flights:

  • Ho Chi Minh (Vietnam)
  • Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia)
  • Hong Kong
  • Singapore

The last time we saved money in this way: we flew to the north of Thailand and the flight to Bangkok cost more (22,000 rubles) than a ticket to Hong Kong (14,000 rubles) + a ticket from Hong Kong to Chiang Mai (6,000 rubles). In addition, we had the opportunity to see Hong Kong.

3.2 Tours and packages instead of tickets

Another tricky way to fly to Thailand cheaply is to buy not an air ticket, but a ready-made tour in the desired direction. Sometimes the cost of a ticket (especially a last minute one) can be significantly lower than the price of a ticket for a regular flight. There are times when a ticket is cheaper than a one-way ticket.

So, the passenger approaches the plane and shows the boarding pass stub to the stewardess (the passport is no longer needed), she will show the direction in which you need to move through the cabin of the aircraft to get to your seat. We pass to the place, we find the luggage compartment above our heads and put all hand luggage there (it should not be at the feet or under the seat during takeoff or landing). We sit down comfortably and wait for takeoff.

How many hours to fly to Thailand from Moscow

Depending on weather conditions from Moscow to Thailand fly from 8.5 hours to 10.5 (Bangkok). The travel time (7065 km) mostly depends on the direction of the wind, and not on the model of the aircraft, since all modern liners fly at approximately the same speed and altitude. If you are not flying to the capital Thailand(Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok), and to the island of Phuket, add one hour of flight time.

How many hours will it take flight to thailand from other cities:

  • Samara - Bangkok: average flight time 8.5 hours;
  • Vladivostok - Bangkok: 7 hours;
  • Krasnoyarsk - Bangkok: 7 hours;
  • St. Petersburg - Bangkok: 10 hours.

What to do while flying to Thailand?

Despite the fact that airlines are trying to diversify the pastime of passengers in flight, there is no guarantee that you will not be bored until Thailand itself. So, what do we do in flight (mandatory program):

  • At the beginning of the flight, during acceleration and takeoff, it will not be boring, the body experiences a certain stress. Before takeoff, the flight attendants hand out sweets, it’s better to take one or two, because during takeoff it stuffs your ears, sweets cause copious swallowing of saliva, and this helps.
  • 30-40 minutes after takeoff, drinks will be offered and preparations for serving dinner will begin (dinner cooked in Thailand is served on the way back, but for now we are content with what our chefs have prepared).
  • 2 hours before landing, they will be fed breakfast (although there are flights where they are fed 3 times during the Moscow-Bangkok flight).
  • After breakfast, the flight attendants will hand out migration cards, fill them out by pulling out a table for food, for which we need a pen and a filling sample if this is done for the first time.
  • The landing lasts about 40 minutes, it’s not boring here either, especially since the sun rises in Thailand at about 6 in the morning and by the time we arrive, gorgeous views from the window open when descending.

From the optional program: watching movies from the local video library, the screen is located right in front of you on the seat next to you, if you can’t figure out how the system works, contact the flight attendant, she will show you how to operate the system, select and watch movies.

You can have your own computer with you, it will significantly pass the time in flight. The fact is that the standard headphones offered for the aircraft video system are very uncomfortable, and your own headphones are not suitable.

You can also read magazines that are in the lower pocket in your neighbor's chair in front. But the best thing is to sleep on the flight or at least take a nap (the plane arrives in Thailand in the morning, many will probably only check in after 14-00, and not everyone wants to lose the first day to sleep and wake up on a Thai night). To do this, it is advisable to have something like earplugs with you, and there is a blindfold on the plane.

It is also comfortable to transfer the flight to Thailand will help special pillows for the neck, inside of which there is air or, ideally, sand.

We wish you a pleasant flight and hope that the time spent flying to Thailand from your city will fly by!

Dozens of flights leave from Russia to Thailand every day, differing from each other in the duration of the flight, airport of departure and destination, as well as comfort conditions.
