  • A short blink of the high beams in an area with heavy traffic means that the oncoming driver is giving you priority right of way - “pass”
  • A series of flashes of the high beams of an oncoming car warns of danger ahead or a traffic police ambush; it is necessary to reduce speed. At night, it may mean a request to switch the headlights to low beam
  • If a car behind you is flashing high beams, it means the driver is asking you to give way to him. It is necessary, if possible, to change lanes to the right
  • 2 - 3 flashes of the hazard warning lights - this is how drivers usually thank each other for their politeness.
  • On country roads, drivers of large trucks or buses often help the cars following them. So, the turned on left turn signal warns of approaching oncoming traffic, which means it is better to hold off on overtaking. If the right turn signal is on, the oncoming lane is clear, you can overtake.
  • If you hear a long horn and blink at the distant car behind you, it means you are asking to let you go ahead. If there is exactly the same signal from the side, it means: “Make way!”
  • On roads with branches, it can be difficult to make a left turn due to the volume of traffic; to show that you are being let through, the oncoming car will briefly blink its “distant” flash. You can do the same if you decide to let oncoming traffic pass.
  • In a situation, especially in the dark, when a large truck overtakes you, it is difficult for him to see whether he has overtaken your car or not. Flash your high beams at him and let him know that you can complete the maneuver.
  • In the dark, if you are blinked with high beams, then you may be asked to switch from “high beams” to “low beams”.
  • One short flash of high beams in a traffic jam - “pass.”
  • A short horn in the driver's language means a friendly greeting or a kind of “please” if you thanked a person with an emergency light. A long beep in tandem with flashing high beams is an important signal warning that there is danger ahead or your car is broken down.
  • A hand showing a circle and pointing down means that one of the tires of your car is flat.
  • If the driver is shown a fig, then a stone has “settled” between the paired wheels of the truck.
  • The hand points to the side of the road - they tell you that your iron horse has broken down and you need to stop.
  • The hand points to the car door - it means one of the doors is not completely closed or something is stuck there.
  • Palm strike in the air - you need to check the trunk
  • During icy conditions, the braking distance of a vehicle increases by approximately 10 times compared to the normal surface of the roadway; in such cases, engine braking or intermittent braking should be used.
  • When driving on a snowy road, try to drive without stopping or changing gears, as this reduces the inertial force that helps the car move and causes a loss of speed or even a complete stop.
  • If you often drive on dirt or snowy roads, purchase special anti-slip mats and store them in the trunk. If these are not available, you can use rubber mats from the interior. As already mentioned, to get out of the mud or snowdrift, use a board or branches from the surrounding bushes.
  • In foggy conditions, it is prohibited to leave your lane unless absolutely necessary, overtake, move along tram tracks and tow motor vehicles.
  • On the road, try to stay away from military vehicles. Often these vehicles are driven by young soldiers who have recently received their license. Needless to say, how dangerous a large-sized Ural is when driven by an inexperienced driver!
  • According to statistical studies, most road accidents involving pedestrians occur between 16:00 and 20:00.
  • Never stick a “U” sign on your car window. Trimming and “teaching” a novice teapot is a favorite pastime for many car enthusiasts. From harmless beeping in front of a traffic light and ignoring your advantage to getting caught on the road.
  • When driving a front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive vehicle, when turning, do not turn the steering wheel all the way, but always leave a reserve. Otherwise, the CV joints or “constant velocity joints” will wear out quickly and will have to be replaced regularly.
  • It is always better to park your car in reverse, as it takes up less space, is easier to maneuver and has fewer problems leaving the parking lot.
  • Don't drive in neutral. When descending a steep hill, the steering wheel and wheels may lock, which will lead to loss of vehicle control.
  • Do not constantly depress the clutch; even during short stops, switch to neutral. Otherwise, the release bearing will wear out very much.
  • Do not leave the car with the handbrake on for a long time; it is better to leave it in gear. Otherwise, you will have to tighten the handbrake cable very often, and in winter you will not be able to move at all, the brake pads will freeze to the drums.
  • Carefully drive over the speed bump. Reduce your speed a few meters before the obstacle, brake, and sharply release the brake before the obstacle itself. In this case, your car will deftly pass the obstacle and the suspension will not suffer from holes.
  • Keep an eye on the air conditioner. Turn it on regularly to ensure that the coolant does not leak out and the pipes do not dry out. It will be expensive to repair.
  • To prevent your car from skidding, brake intermittently. By vigorously and quickly pressing the brake pedal.
  • Drive your car in a good mood, without haste, this is the only way you will arrive at your destination on time.

general information

Olenevka traces its history back to ancient times. During excavations near the current buildings, archaeologists discovered a Greek settlement that existed on Tarkhankut in the 4th century BC.

The first information about the modern village dates back to the second half of the 18th century. After the annexation of Crimea to Russia, local residents emigrated to Turkey, and the actual Privy Councilor Vasily Stepanovich Popov became the owner of the lands. In documents from the beginning of the 19th century, in the village of Karadzhi there were 43 households in which 268 people lived.

In 1945, the coastal village was renamed Olenevka. Today there are about 1,500 people here. True, during the high season, up to 10-15 thousand tourists come to Olenevka on vacation.

The main local attraction is the ancient villa of the Yalta leader of the nobility Pavel Vasilyevich Popov. After the revolution, its owner emigrated to France, and the estate was nationalized. Today, the old buildings and the green park belong to the Solnechnaya Dolina boarding house.

What to do on vacation

Thanks to the small number of rivers, the sea on Tarkhankut warms up to +28°C and remains clear even at great depths. For this reason, Olenevka is very popular among fans of snorkeling, diving and underwater photography enthusiasts.

The resort village has dive clubs that teach scuba diving. Here you can rent equipment, fill cylinders and get advice from professional instructors. One of the most visited places is the Alley of Leaders. This is the name of the area of the sea near Cape Atlesh, where busts of famous politicians and revolutionaries are located under the water.

Beginners prefer to train in the calm Estuary, while experienced surfers conquer the waves in the open bay of the Black Sea. The season for windsurfers and kitesurfers begins on May 1st. At this time, sea water is already heated to a temperature of +20°C. May and June are considered the best months for skiing.

Tourists are taken to the “Cup of Love”, the rocks of the “Dzhangul” tract and the filming sites of the films “Pirates of the 20th Century” and “Amphibian Man”.

Olenevka beaches

Olenevka beach is one of the most beautiful in Crimea. It stretches along the coast of Karadzhinskaya Bay for 3 km, has a width of 20-40 m and is covered with fine light sand. About 0.6 km of the coast belongs to the boarding house "Sunny Valley". There are shade canopies and lifeguards are constantly on duty.

The entrance to the water is gentle throughout, and the seabed has no holes or large stones. The clear turquoise sea and warm shallow waters make Olenevka an excellent place to relax with small children. In summer, inflatable slides are installed on the village beach, changing cabins are available for vacationers, and small cafes are open.

Their bottom is lined with a thick layer of highly mineralized silt. Tarkhankut mud helps with diseases of the musculoskeletal system and skin diseases. Mud applications relieve joint pain, relieve attacks of rheumatism and rejuvenate the skin.

A licensed medical center has been opened at the Solnechnaya Dolina boarding house. Here, vacationers have access to consultations with doctors; patients can undergo an individual course of treatment, visit a herbal bar and spa treatments. Latest reviews about holidays in Olenevka

We vacationed in Crimea for the first time in our lives. I’m glad that we ended up in Olenevka and specifically in the Marlin Hotel.
Hospitable hosts, clean rooms. The territory is a different story, when you just enter, you are enveloped in the aroma of flowers, everything is so green that in the heat the territory is cool and fresh. There is a swimming pool on site, but I didn’t swim, because the children didn’t get out of there)). And what a beach this is, words can’t describe it, the water is crystal clear, during our vacation we traveled almost the entire coast of the peninsula; there is no such beach as in Olenevka anywhere else. True, it’s a bit far from the sea; my three children and I walked once, then only by car. The nature is amazing, the lavender field is just there. I will say separately about the food, we had breakfast, lunch and dinner in almost all establishments in the village of Olenevka, we tried almost the entire fish menu, delicious and fresh food from which we also enjoyed very much. You can eat on the premises of the Marlin Hotel, I loved their cheesecakes and pancakes with cottage cheese)) The vacation was a success, wait for us next year. And one more thing, if you go from Olenevka to Yevpatoria, you will meet the “Fish Tavern” on the way; be sure to stop by for lunch.

We had never been to Olenyovka before, we learned about it from friends who were there on an excursion. We started looking for hotels, found Marlin, the reviews were contradictory, my wife was worried about the bad reviews, we called, we really liked the conversation with the administrator, he convinced us to go to them.
They met us at the airport, and in 2.5 hours we arrived safely at the hotel.
I will say right away that Olenevka is an ideal place; my child and I had a very comfortable holiday in Marlin. The hotel in real life is just like in the photo, beautiful, newly built, the rooms are clean, the staff is very polite.
The steep cliffs, the snow-white beach and the endless steppe made an incredible impression on our whole family...
We went to take a break from the city and the bustle and we succeeded. The holiday exceeded our expectations:)
With respect and great greetings,
Alexander, Irina, Natasha and Alena!

I was worried about the bad reviews before booking, but we decided to go to Marlin anyway and were not disappointed!
We stayed in the VIP apartment from May 15 to 27, the room was large and spacious, the furniture was all new, the room was clean and free of dust. The area is green, beautifully landscaped and well-groomed. The road to the sea is flat, about 15 minutes on foot with children. This was our first time in Olenevka - this is an ideal place to relax with children, the beach is white sand, the sea is clean. Children played on the playground and jumped on the trampoline. Food is cheap, but the food is delicious. We will definitely come again!
I rate it very well, because it’s a 15-minute walk to the sea, although it didn’t cause any difficulties; if it were closer, I’d rate it excellent! The area itself is so green and well-planned that while I was there, I had the feeling throughout my entire vacation that we We are vacationing somewhere abroad, at least in Turkey)
Especially warm memories of our dinners with the whole family in one of the gazebos, of which there are a lot on the territory of Marlin. A warm breeze, a gazebo surrounded by greenery, freshly grilled kebab on the grill... mmm
You really have to walk to the sea, but it’s worth it: firstly, the clearest water and a snow-white beach, and secondly, physical activity, which is so necessary after an evening dinner and a glass of wine!))
I recommend it to everyone, if you are going to Crimea or have already been here, but in the other direction - be sure to go to Olenevnka! This is a wonderful, quiet and magical place to relax from the bustle of Moscow!
Well, where to relax there? Of course, in Marlin!
I wish everyone a great summer holiday and unforgettable experiences!
P.s. Don't judge too harshly - this is my first review!)
